On December 6, 2012 possession of marijuana for recreational use became legal in the state of Washington. In this CNN news video, Steve Sarich, who is the manager of the No On I-502 Committee, is interviewed about the new pot laws. Sarich opposed the proposition to make marijuana legal and is now working to overturn the law.
Steve Sarich is the director of the Cannabis Action Coalition. He has filed suit and wants to permanently have this law declared unconstitutional. One of his claims is that at least a portion of the new law was not properly mentioned on the ballot.
Sarich actually runs a dispensary and uses medical marijuana. Soledad suggests that he might have a business reason for opposing this law. But Sarich says his problem is with the new DUI law. It makes it illegal to drive while high, but Sarich says the problem is that marijuana can stay in your system and result in a positive test for like 30 days. These false positives can get you convicted of DUID even if you were not high at the time you were driving.
