The following ABC News legal video contains scenes of people lighting up and smoking marijuana joints in Seattle, Washington. In November, the state passed a law to legalize possession and use of recreational marijuana. The law went into effect on December 6, 2012.
It should be noted these people smoking pot in Seattle are still guilty of federal marijuana possession laws. Although this is obviously not a big priority of the federal governments, the feds can go after you any time they want to unless the federal laws are voluntarily changed or declared unconstitutional. So while state authorities will not be going after people for smoking joints, you still have to be careful about flaunting your use of marijuana in Washington state. If you piss off the wrong person, you could be facing federal criminal drug charges.
