The 12th season of American Idol premiered on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. As usual, the show started with its initial auditions. And we got our first look at the new judges. Randy Jackson has returned, but American Idol 12 is the first season for all the other judges. They are Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj. Ryan Seacrest is returning to host the show.

Clifton’s Audition:
This audition was on the second episode of the season (January 17, 2013). Auditions were in Chicago.
Clifton Duffin never sang to his parents until now (or so the story goes). He is 22 years old. Clifton sang “Superstar.” His parents came in and listened. They are really stretching for a backstory on this one.
All 4 judges said YES. He sounded okay but is obviously not a favorite.
Predictions For Clifton Duffin:
There are always some spoilers that get posted online about who makes it deep in Hollywood or advances to the voting rounds. Based on what I have seen so far, Duffin’s name was not on the list of Top 20 boys.
