The Voice 2 Top 8 Semifinals : Cyndi Lauper and Beverly McClellan - “Money Changes Everything”

Cyndi Lauper is an icon of 80s music. She became a huge star with “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.” Lauper still makes the rounds with her old hits, and she has scored another gig on The Voice 2 Top 8 results show. Cyndi will be singing her hit “Money Changes Everything” with The Voice Season 1 finalist Beverly McClellan.

McClellan is a bald lesbian rocker, something you surely don’t see every day. And with this duet, she is paired up with Cyndi Lauper, who is an 80s star who used to shave part of her head and was involved in professional wrestling. This is certainly a unique pairing.

The two will perform their duet on the Top 8 results show, which airs on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. The show starts at 9:00 Eastern time, and it lasts one hour.

Although “Money Changes Everything” did not go gold, Cyndi has had a number of gold and platinum singles, including “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” (platinum single and ringtone and gold as a digital download), “Time After Time” (gold for the old physical single plus gold as a download), and “She Bop” (gold as a physical single). In addition, her album “She’s So Unusual” has sold over 6 million copies, and “True Colors” has sold over 2 million copies. 1995′s “12 Deadly Sins” also sold over 500,000 copies.

Beverly had a nice, clean vocal. I would have preferred to hear her sing an original, but at least she got to come back and share the stage with Cyndi.

Beverly has a new album called “Fear Nothing.” So why did we not hear one of her songs?
