Javier Colon is the Season 1 winner of The Voice. He will be returning to the show in Season 2′s Top 8 to perform his new single, “A Drop In The Ocean.” Colon’s post-show album was a flop, so hopefully this can get him going in the right direction. However, this does not mean it was his fault or that he is not marketable.
As near as I can tell and from what I have read, he got very little promotion for his album. And 2nd-place Dia Frampton suffered the same fate. In addition, the show has barely even talked about them, and the finale is next week. Unlike American Idol, The Voice does not seem interested in supporting its contestants after the show. Blake Shelton did bring Dia on tour with him, though.
Javier will be performing “A Drop In The Ocean” on the Top 8 results show, which airs on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. The show starts at 9 p.m. Eastern time and lasts one hour. Others performing on the results show include Season 1 finalists Dia Frampton with Kid Cudi, Vicci Martinez with Cee Lo Green, and Beverly McClellan with Cyndi Lauper.
This vocal is nice mostly just because Javier has a nice tone. But the song seems to be all over the place. And he didn’t have a particularly clean vocal. The whole thing seemed so rushed, though. Maybe it wasn’t really his fault.
