The Voice 2 Finale Odds and Predictions

The Voice 2 has made its Top 4 finale. Here are the finals contestants:

Team Adam: Tony Lucca

Team Christina: Chris Mann

Team Blake: Jermaine Paul

Team Cee Lo: Juliet Simms

The finale performances will take place on Monday, May 7, 2012. The winner will be crowned on Tuesday, May 8, 2012.

Looking at online websites, the typical odds for The Voice 2 finale before the Top 8 results had Tony and Juliet as favorites and Jermaine and Chris as semi-longshots. Most of the online sites seem to have taken The Voice 2 off their boards, which means no more betting unless they bring it back. But either Juliet or Tony would have to be the favorite.

Last year, three girls and one guy made the finale, and Javier Colon won. For Season 2, three guys and one girl have made the finale, and Juliet Simms has a very real chance of winning. She took out Jamar Rogers about 60 to 40 in the public vote. However, she had lost to Jamar the week before by an unannounced percentage. Juliet seems to be peaking at the right time, and she also made it to the top 4 on iTunes for her “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” Top 8 semifinal performance.

Jermaine Paul spanked Erin Willett in the public vote, but that probably isn’t telling us much. Just about any of the finalists could have done the same thing. I don’t think Jermaine is the favorite, and the stars would have to align perfectly for him to win. In iTunes sales, he hovered around 40, which was below Juliet and Tony but ahead of Chris.

Chris Mann has not had the same iTunes sales results as the other three. Rather, he has made it on the public vote. Chris beat Lindsey Pavao 54 to 46 in the public vote even though Lindsey was hovering at around #15 yesterday. Chris was hovering at around 50 to 60.

It is pretty surprising that Tony Lucca actually lost the public vote to a rising Katrina Parker. He was only slightly behing her in the iTunes rankings and lost to her 52 to 48. However, Adam had given him 60 points to 40 for Katrina. Thus, he is the only one to lose the public vote and still make the finale. However, he did have to sing first, which is the worst spot in the singing order and could account for a few percentage points. Also, Katrina’s song was just more memorable.

Despite that, Tony would still probably have to be considered the other potential favorite, along with Juliet Simms. I picked Lucca from the beginning but have been rather disappointed in his performances. I did see more versatility in his last performance, but he just doesn’t have the voice to beat Juliet. Tony will have to win on the demographic vote, singing order, or other factors.

Note: I just don’t see Chris Mann getting the votes to win. He has taken out Lindsey Pavao, but it was close. And Lindsey really suffered from having what seemed to be an overly shy personality. While she did open up more during the course of the competition, Chris just fit the demographic more. Additionally, if he sings opera, I believe it will be hard to win with this demographic. He would have a better chance of winning on America’s Got Talent.

In the end, this is a hard The Voice 2 finale prediction to make. My cool head is going with Tony, but my sense of talent and good singing have to go with Juliet. She has a better voice and more soul, etc.

When I personally make a pick from the very beginning and see that person all the way to the finale, I just can’t change it. I predict that Tony will win The Voice 2, but I will not be surprised if Juliet pulls out a win.
