The following CBS crime news video comes from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania affiliate. The alleged crime in this story actually took place near Reading, PA. This is in Berks County.
Location:
This school stabbing happened at Wilson Southern Middle School. The school is in Spring Township, which is near Reading.
Victim and Suspect:
Both the perpetrator and the stabbing victim were students.
Motive:
I have not seen any mention of a motive in the media reports and articles.
Evidence:
Typically, a stabbing is going to result in criminal prosecution. But not all stabbings are crimes even if the person stabbed did not have a weapon. For example, if a very large kid is beating the tar out of a small child, that child POSSIBLY could defend himself with a knife. It just depends on whether he reasonably feared for his life. In this case, we really don’t know anything about the incident other than one student was stabbed. So it is not possible to analyze the odds of mounting a claim of self-defense in this stabbing incident.
Injuries:
There is little information in the media about the extent of injuries or medical status of the victim. The reports seem to only be saying that this Wilson Southern Middle School stabbing victim was sent to the hospital.
