Police in Arlington, Texas, are saying that a man shot and killed Maria Ojeda, who was 46. The suspect then killed himself.
This happened on Sunday, July 27, 2014.
Ojeda worked as a hairdresser and was killed outside Lily’s Salon. This was on Abrams Street.
Police say the suspect is Ojeda’s estranged husband. They have apparently had a lot of problems with their relationship. Hector Acosta is 50.
Police say Acosta shot himself after shooting Maria outside Lily’s. He had initially gone inside the beauty shop and then chased the victim outside.
As to the motive, police believe this was a domestic situation.

Ashley Gunn has been shot and killed in the Ensley area of Birmingham, Alabama.
Police don’t have a specific motive. But they do say that Gunn was just hanging out with a group of people. And someone just suddenly started shooting at them.
This was on Sunday, July 27, 2014. It was about 2:30 in the morning.
Ashley Gunn was 26 years old. She lived in Fairfield.
The address was in the 1600 block of Avenue I.
Gunn died at the scene of the alleged crime. Another woman and a man were also hit by the gunshots. They were expected to survive.
There are two unidentified suspects. They ran away and have not been caught.

Police believe that Christopher Adams was shot and killed when having a confrontation with DaQuan Pritchett over whether Pritchett used fake money to buy drugs.
Tyler Bishop accompanied Adams to confront Pritchett.
At some point that doesn’t seem clear yet, someone started shooting. And then other people started shooting in response to that.
Adams was the one with fatal injuries. He was 19 and from Kalamazoo.
The date was July 23, 2014, at about 9:30 at night. The address was in the 3200 block of Mt. Olivet Road.
Pritchett is charged with murder. He is 18. Bishop, who is 21, is charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm possession.

This was a Saco, Maine shooting. It was on Water Street, on Saturday, July 26, 2014.
Police suspect that Joel Smith (33) committed a murder-suicide against his own family members.
Heather Smith was 35. Joel’s stepson, Jason Montez, was 12. He allegedly killed two biological kids, as well. Noah Montez was 7, and Lily Smith was 4.
There was no suicide note, but the family might have had financial problems.
There was no hard proof provided yet that Joel Smith did it. However, at least one person says that he threatened suicide recently. The belief he did it is apparently based on the positioning of the bodies, gun, etc.

Los Angeles County police say a tow truck driver was shot and killed early Sunday in a repossession attempt that turned deadly, KNBC, Los Angeles reported. Authorities said a vehicle chased the truck driver across several cities before he was killed by a passenger in the car.
A tow truck driver has been killed in Los Angeles County, California. Steve Lawson was pursued by a car and then shot, allegedly by a passenger in that car.
It all ended in the Compton area. Lawson eventually crashed after being pursued and was shot after he got out of the tow truck.
Police think the motive is related to the car repossession.
Lawson lived in Bellflower, California.
2 people have been arrested, but it’s not clear whether they had a role in Lawson’s shooting death.

Brandon Jorge Allen, who is a former police officer in Detroit, has been arrested and accused of being the leader of a drug ring in Athens County, Ohio. This suspect is 29. He was arrested on Friday, July 25, 2014.
Allen was the alleged supplier of a drug ring in Glouster.
Charges against him include first-degree racketeering (a felony). He is also facing 10 counts for drug trafficking and one for possession.
The charges here are related to prescription pills. However, selling them is illegal without a doctor’s prescription, for several obvious reasons.
Others being prosecuted in this alleged Glouster pill drug ring include Derek M. Gyure, Kendra Sharrer (Gyure’s girlfriend), and former chief of police in Chauncey, Charles A. Wachenschwanz.

This was an arrest in Kingston, Pennsylvania. It was on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
The suspect is Thomas Lederach, and he is 45 and from Dallas. Lederach lives on Bodle Road.
Police allege that Lederach sold a co-worker a pill of Adderall when the two were in the parking lot of a Domino’s pizza place, on Market Street.
In addition to driving on a suspended license, the suspect is facing several drug charges, including possession with intent to deliver, intentional possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The name of the co-worker was not provided.

33-year-old Corbin Bixler, of Ellettsville, Indiana, and 19-year-old Autumn Arnold, of Bedford, Indiana, are facing charges related to drugs.
Back on July 20, 2014, police approached a vehicle with the suspects in it. They say they found marijuana and meth in the vehicle, along with a glass smoking device.
Arnold told cops that they had stopped on the side of State Road 43 to smoke pot and have sex. This was in Greene County, Indiana.
Both Bixler and Arnold are facing three kinds of possession charges: meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Police in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, arrested 5 different suspects in separate drug or similar busts, on Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Here is a summary of the suspects and charges against them.
Nicholas Sando (59 and from Nanticoke) allegedly sold an informant heroin.
Angela Espinosa was also arrested because she was driving the car occupied by Sando. She is 43 and from Shavertown.
John Witherspoon (29 and from Queens, New York) was arrested in connection with a crack cocaine sting. They say he is an admitted Crip gang member.
Terrell Humphrey was allegedly caught with crack cocaine during another sting. He was with Amos Coker, who is now expected to face a deportation hearing. Coker allegedly had two guns and a bulletproof vest. He is 26 and from Ashley. Humphrey is 29 and from Wilkes-Barre.

Police allege that Brandon Burns shot a man that was supposed to be selling heroin to him and/or Rebecca Evans. Burns is 18, and Evans is 23.
The buy was taking place at the Sunset Station shopping center (Pulaski Highway), in Bear.
The unidentified was shot but managed to get away.
The allegation is that the victim met the two in a car. As the victim was in the back seat, Burns allegedly pulled out a gun and shot him. The man was critically injured.
Evans is accused of trying to clean blood from the car.
Burns is charged with robbery, assault, and having a firearm during a felony. Evans is facing a charge of hindering prosecution.
