American Idol 11 (2012) Top 7 Odds and Predictions

Heading into the Top 7 on American Idol 11, all of the early favorites heading into the Top 13 are still here. However, Hollie Cavanagh, who started out as one of the favorites, has steadily declined. Elise was never a strong favorite in the betting odds, but she is still hanging around by avoiding the absolute last place in public voting. The other contestant that seems to be reaching full danger is Skylar Laine.

Philip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Colton Dixon, and Joshua Ledet seem to be the four favorites. Of those, I would not be surprised to see anyone win except Joshua. This would be a fairly big (but not in a bad way) surprise, and I predict that Joshua will finish either 3rd or 4th.

Here are the odds heading into the Top 7, according to Bovada:

Jessica Sanchez 3.00
Colton Dixon 3.25
Philip Phillips 3.50
Joshua Ledet 11.00
Skylar Laine 16.00
Elise Testone 26.00
Hollie Cavanagh 26.00

Anyone who thinks Hollie or Elise is going to win is just crazy. They have no chance short of a miracle. Skylar would be a huge surprise. It is easy to predict that one of these 3 will be eliminated even before the Top 7 performance show airs. This is not fair, but the public has made it clear by now that Elise and Hollie are not favorites. Once Skylar is depimped and doesn’t go last, then she could be in trouble, too.

There is a difference in the betting odds this week. Philip Phillips fell to 3rd in voting, probably due to the fact that many are upset that he does not seem to take the contest seriously. I would not think a second about dropping Philip as a strong winner prediction based on that. He is showing his personality, and that is what the public at large likes. The people upset at Philip are hardcore fans that take American Idol way too seriously.

Nonetheless, Philip’s dropping means Jessica once again becomes the odds-on favorite to win American Idol 11. And Colton Dixon jumps to 2nd for the first time in the competition.
