Jamie Lono is a singer competing on the 2nd season of The Voice. He has worked in a sandwich shop the past few years and even played music in the shop a couple of hours a week. Lono also has quite an interesting backstory for a singer. He has had part of one lung removed. Fortunately, this does not seem to affect his singing. Jamie has made it past the blind auditions, where he chose Cee Lo Green as his coach pick.
Look for Jamie to easily win his Battle Round as long as the producers aren’t trying to get rid of him quickly for some unknown reason. His rendition of “Folsom Prison Blues” was pretty awesome, and he is definitely one of the best singers so far for Season 2 of The Voice. Lono has a nice mix of power notes with softer transitions. The arrangement could probably be streamlined a little, and he needs to support his softer notes a little bit more or maintain a little more volume on them. Other than that, this guy seems like he could be a favorite.
It is also good to be on Cee Lo’s team, as he seems to create poor overall teams (either his own picks are picks forced on him by the producers). Nonetheless, he could be in trouble in the Battle Round if placed against Erin Martin or Jamar Rogers. Tony Vincent could potentially be chosen over him, as well. That would be really dumb, as Jamie seems to have the kind of laid-back personality along with his talent that could get votes. I rank him as tops in this group with only two more picks to go on Team Cee Lo. Look for Jamie Lono to get to at least the Top 8 as long as he gets past the judge-selected Battle Round (no public voting in that round).
The Battle Rounds start in March for The Voice 2. Check back later here for updates.
