NBC Today Show Video: Interview With 12-Year-Old Fashion Designer, Isabella Rose Taylor, Who Debuted At New York’s Fashion Week In September 2013

The following Today show video is about a 12-year-old girl who is a fashion designer. She just debuted at the 2013 New York Fashion Week. In addition to seeing some of her clothing fashions, you can see an interview with Isabella Rose Taylor in this story. Isabella is from the Austin, Texas area. The reporter is Mara Schiavocampo. This video aired on the September 13, 2013 episode of Today.

This is one of those annoying clips that starts out thin on facts and over the top on hype. You can see various clips of Isabella behind the scenes at New York Fashion Week (not interesting). But it gets better as it goes along. We do find out she started dabbling in fashion design when she was only 8 years old. So that was about 4 years ago. Taylor now has her own line and is getting plenty of attention from buyers.

Isabella’s 2014 collection is self-described as “hippy meets grunge.” She also describes it with the following characteristics: comfortable but also fashionable and unique, with the ability to switch up looks throughout the day.

Isabella started producing art (like painting) when she was 3 years old. Some unidentified Dallas art dealer sells her pieces.

The other kind of crazy thing is that Isabella already started college even though she is only 12.

Despite all this, her mom says she is not growing up too fast. She is just like a kid at home.

Isabella’s key to success is “blood, sweat, and glitter.” She also calls this BSG.

Note: At almost the very end of the story, they clarified that Taylor did not have her collection featured at New York Fashion Week. It was featured at fashion shows in Austin, Texas, though. So when Today said she debuted at Fashion Week, that was misleading. Did she debut only as a model or something? Very misleading of Today not to clearly state what they are talking about. It’s not like the girl needs more hype. She is obviously already brilliant as is.
