American Idol 11 (2012) Top 7 Results and Predictions

Last night on the American Idol Top 7 results show, there were a lot of good performances. In fact, the only one that got overwhelmingly negative responses from the judges was Hollie Cavanagh. Philip Phillips got mixed but generally positive comments. Skylar, Jessica, Elise, Joshua, and Colton all got overwhelmingly positive comments.

It’s going to be hard to predict who is going home tonight. We probably can make some pretty good predictions based on voting trends instead of relying on the actual performances in the Top 7.

Based on trends, Hollie is in trouble. She does not seem to have a strong fanbase, and she got the most negative comments. I predict Cavanagh will be in the bottom 3 unless she gets a lot of sympathy votes due to the negative judge comments.

Skylar would be an easy pick for the bottom 3 if she hadn’t sung so well. This is simply because she had to sing first. I am going to predict that the bad singing order will send Skylar to the bottom 3 despite her good performance.

Elise is someone that is also a prime candidate for the bottom 3. However, she went last and gave a very good performance of Lady Gaga’s “You and I.” I don’t think Elise will be eliminated, but I am leaning toward her falling to the bottom 3.

It is hard to predict Colton, Philip, Jessica, or Joshua for the bottom 3 because they have avoided that situation throughout American Idol 11. Of these, I see either Philip or Joshua as possibly hitting the bottom 3 for the first time.

All things considered, my prediction is that Skylar, Hollie, and Joshua will be in the bottom 3 and that Hollie Cavanagh will be eliminated on the Top 7 results show. The reason I am picking Joshua is the singing order favors Elise and that Josua sang a really fast song that did not display his emotional side.

Tune in to the results show on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at 8 Eastern time. The show lasts one hour, and featured guest performers include James Durbin and Jennifer Hudson.

Results:

Hollie and Jessica come up first. Jimmy says both are great but that Hollie is stiff and Jessica is a naturally soulful singer.

Hollie starts a group on the right side of the stage, and Jessica starts a group on the other side.

Elise and Philip are up to center stage next. Jimmy said these two are singer-songwriters and very good. But he thinks both of them are in the bottom 3 this time because they would be better singing their own songs.

Philip joins Hollie, and Elise joins Jessica. Unless they do a switcharoo, this looks bad for Philip.

Joshua and Colton are up next. Jimmy praised both of their performances. He thinks both of them should make it through.

Joshua joins Jessica and Elise. Colton joins Philip and Hollie.

Skylar is the last one to center stage. Ryan is going to try to make her pick which group is the top group. Jimmy says Skylar is a singer-songwriter plus a technical singer. But he thinks she might get overlooked by the fans.

Jimmy thinks Philip, Elise, and Hollie should be bottom 3.

Wow. Joshua, Elise, and Jessica are the bottom 3.

Skylar is safe, and so are Hollie, Philip, and Colton.

The save will probably be used tonight even if it’s Elise.

Joshua is safe, and then Elise is safe.

Jessica is at risk. She will be saved. Some people will say this was rigged for ratings, but the judges interrupt her and save her.
