From the minute I heard Joshua Ledet sing Christina Perri’s “Jar of Hearts,” I immediately was just hoping he would make the top 12 so we could see more great performances. He just doesn’t seem to have that star personality that works in 2012.
I opined earlier that he would finish around 4th place, and that that would be a great win for him even if Joshua doesn’t actually win American Idol 11. He has now made it to the top 5 and is one week away from that Top 4 position. At this point, he has become my favorite singer in the contest after his magnificent performance of India Arie’s “Ready For Love.”
Going into the top 5, Joshua has stiff competition with Jessica, Skylar, and Philip. And while anything can happen, his buddy Hollie is less of a threat in the Top 5. Jimmy Iovine seems to think Joshua can make the finale. I do see that as a possibility now, but Skylar could upset him, as well.
The difference between Joshua and Season 10′s Jacob Lusk is that Joshua has a less aggressive personality, and that is good for votes. And vocally, he has now proven that he can do well with a restrained performance. Ledet will almost certainly make that Top 4.

British music is the theme for the American Idol 11 Top 5. Themes should not be a problem for Joshua because he has the versatility to sing well in multiple genres, fast and slow songs, etc.
