Skylar Laine has made the Top 5 on American Idol 11. She has largely avoided the bottom 3, but Skylar joined Hollie and Elise in the bottom 3 during the Top 6. She was the first one sent back to safety.
If I were ranking the contestants remaining in the Top 5, I would probably have Skylar ranked 3rd, behind Joshua and Philip. But this bunch is packed together real closely, so my rankings seem to literally change from week to week. In terms of betting odds, Skylar is in 3rd leading up to the Top 5, with Philip first and Jessica 2nd.
But Skylar has a good shot of making it to the finale and certainly should survive the Top 5. We will know more about how these contestants stand when we get the Top 5 results. As it is now, it seems like Skylar, Jessica, and Joshua are vying for a spot in the finale against Philip. Skylar avoided the bottom 3 for quite a while, but the voting seems to be close enough overall that anyone could be in or out at a moment’s notice. Looking at all the results, though, Skylar appears to be a pretty safe bet to get past the Top 5 next week, with Hollie being at the greatest risk of elimination.

The theme for the Top 5 is British music. With there not really being country music there in the sense of U.S-style country music, that might be a problem for some country singers. That shouldn’t be a real problem for Skylar because her voice fits multiple genres.
