The following ABC News video is about a crafty but controversial use of Christmas lights. Sarah Henderson, who is from Denham Springs, Louisiana, decided to tell her neighbors how she really feels about their gossiping and whatever else by flipping them the bird. Only, instead of doing it with her own middle finger, Sarah fashioned some Christmas lights in the shape of a hand and raised middle finger. You can see a censored video of the Christmas light display in the video below, which was added to the ABC website on November 29, 2012.
Some neighbors got upset, and the police came out. Although Henderson certainly has a plausible First Amendment argument, she decided it would be best to take down the middle-finger display. She has made her point and doesn’t need to make it any further.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the ACLU sent a letter to the Denham Springs police to advise them that Sarah Henderson should not be fined because she has the right to display that image on her own property.
