Colton Dixon appeared on Ellen DeGeneres after failing to make the voting rounds of Season 10. He then made the voting rounds for Season 11 and was surprisingly eliminated in 7th place after having never been in the bottom 3 all season.
Ellen no longer has all of the eliminated contestants on her show, but she invited Colton back after his Season 11 elimination.
Colton did an interview and performed “Piano Man” while playing the piano. This was one of his best performances of the season. I think what happened to Colton is that he went way down in terms of emotion when he didn’t do a pop ballad or soft rock in this kind of style seen in the “Piano Man” performance. Conversely, someone like Philip always exudes that emotion even if he arguably doesn’t have that much versatility.
