The scene in Top Gun with “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” is one of the most memorable movie scenes from the 1980s. This was a hit for The Righteous Brothers in 1964. It hit #1 in the U.S. and the U.K.
American Idol 11 started doing group performances on the actual performance episode for the first time. Before this season, group numbers were only done on the results shows. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” was a group performance in Top 5 Week.
Joshua and Philip performed the song.
Philip used his cleaner, softer voice. It is not as good as his rougher voice. Even Joshua is weak on this one. These two are clearly not that motivated to sing this song, at least not together. About 15 seconds in the middle of the song was worth it. Otherwise, it was kind of a joke.
For some reason, the judges said they liked it. LOL. I guess they just didn’t want to diss a group performance.
