The second season of The Voice has completed its battle rounds. Of those I had predicted to do well, the one that is really missing is sandwich-shop worker Jamie Lono. But he got a song that just did not fit his style, and Jamar Rogers won that battle.
Others that I strongly predicted to do well on The Voice 2 won their battle rounds, including Tony Lucca, Pip, Lindsey Pavao, and Jordis Unga.
Jesse Campbell improved their odds of winning in the battle rounds, but they will have an uphill battle simply because these types of singers typically do not win TV singing contests with public voting.
Pip is one of my favorites, as well. But he is in trouble of not making the final 4 simply due to the fact that both he and Tony Lucca are on Adam’s team.
Speaking of Tony Lucca, I have to admit I was rather unimpressed with his Battle Round performance. He was lucky to even be chosen. However, I still expect him to be the favorite because he will have a song that suits his style in the live rounds instead of a battle-round song pick. In my observation, the Battle Round is just a gimmick, with the winners likely predetermined in many cases before the battles even begin.
All in all, I would still pick Lindsey and Tony as the top two predictions as possible winners. Jordis also has a chance if she can maintain her confidence. Pip is a longshot to win because he would first have to get through Tony to win.
Jamar Rogers is a competent vocalist, but he is good at a lot of genres but not superb at any of them. This puts his odds at below the top pack. Another girl that could go deep is Charlotte Sometimes. However, I would also put her odds of winning at just below the top group. Juliet Simms could go deep, but that overly used rasp will not take her to a championship.
Surely, the other contestants have at least some chance of winning The Voice 2 or going deep. But I predict that only Tony, Pip, Jordis, Lindsey, or Charlotte will win. If I were forced to pick only one, I would predict that Tony Lucca will win The Voice. But that is not a strong pick (unlike Javier Colon, which was a no-brainer choice to win).
