Philip Phillips sang Usher’s “You Got It Bad” as his first song choice for the Top 7 Redux Week of American Idol 11. The judges played like this was so great. Yes, it was the same excellent Phillip that we see every week. I’m not sure it was really better. The judges were probably responding to the fact that the song was successful in that it displayed his own style instead of being a karaoke version. To that end, it was successful.
Phillip also sang Wilson Pickett’s “In The Midnight Hour” for the Top 7 Redux show. On the night, he got only positive comments for both songs.
