Microsoft has announced for the first time that Xbox 360′s general entertainment apps now surpass the multi-player gaming features in terms of time spent.
Entertainment apps accessible through Xbox Live include Netflix, Zune Marketplace, ESPN, and Hulu Plus.
Today, Microsoft is now releasing new entertainment apps, including Comcast, MLB.tv, and HBO Go.
The claim that entertainment apps now surpasses multi-player gaming on Xbox must be clarified to some extent. Time spent on single-player games is not included in this comparison.
Total usage time increased by 30 percent, and even the gaming hours increased along with general-entertainment hours (but at a lesser increase).
Whether Xbox 360 grows to become an all-in-one entertainment center for the whole family remains to be seen, but to say that the monthly average of 84 hours for Xbox Live Gold members is impressive would be a huge understatement.
