One high school student was killed in a one-vehicle crash in the Tallahassee, Florida area. A fellow student was injured in this accident.
Where:
Interstate 10
When:
Friday night, March 8, 2013
Victims:
1. Amanda Pierce was 18 years old. She was the driver of the sole vehicle that crashed. Both Pierce and Victim #2 were students at Tampa, Florida’s Plant High School.
2. Taylor Lazzara is 18 years old. Taylor was injured but survived. This victim’s exact medical status was not reported.
Cause:
As Pierce was driving along, there were some cars stopped on I-10 in front of her due to an accident that already occurred. It is not clear whether she just didn’t see them until it was too late or if the cars started backing up only seconds before. But for whatever reason, Amanda swerved to miss them. This caused the vehicle to hit a tree.
