CNN Anderson Cooper News Video: Did The Pittsburgh VA Hospital Cause Veteran William Nicklas To Get Legionnaires’ Disease From Bad Water

The following CNN news video comes from Anderson Cooper’s TV show. It is about a claim from a family that military veteran William Nicklas contracted Legionnaires’ disease at the VA Pittsburgh Hospital System. The family says it is the VA hospital’s fault because they gave Nicklas bad water. This video was added to the CNN website on December 13, 2012.

According to Anderson Cooper’s report, the Pittsburgh VA has admitted there is a problem. In fact, just since last year, 5 patients contracted the disease. But the bigger problem seems to be that the VA is dragging its heels about fixing the problem. There are also 2 other possible Legionnaire’s death linked to the VA hospital in Pittsburgh.

Bob Nicklas is William’s son. He is interviewed in this story and says he firmly believes the hospital was negligent in not fixing its problem with contaminated water. David Nicklas, another son of the victim’s, is shocked at the VA’s actions in this Legionnaire’s scandal.

Perhaps the worst part is that the hospital allegedly knew about the problem about a year ago and did not even make it public until last month. That is beyond incorrigible.

Troy Schira is with LiquiTech. He says his company told the Pittsburgh VA they had legionella in the water. He says it is inexplicable that they did not fix the problem.

When CNN went to the hospital to get answers, they were turned away by armed federal officers.
