The Voice 2 Top 8 (Semifinals) Winning Odds and Predictions

The Voice 2 has reached the Top 8 (semifinals). On Monday, April 30, 2012, these eight will sing in the semifinals, and half of them (one from each team) will be eliminated on Tuesday, May 1, 2012.

The Voice 2 Top 4 finale will then have final performances on Monday, May 7, 2012. The winner of The Voice 2 will then be announced on Tuesday, May 8, 2012.

Heading into the Top 8, here are the remaining contestants:

Team Adam - Tony Lucca and Katrina Parker

Team Cee Lo - Jamar Rogers and Juliet Simms

Team Blake - Jermaine Paul and Erin Willett

Team Christina - Lindsey Pavao and Chris Mann

Almost immediately, we may as well scratch Erin Willett and Katrina Parker off the list. Chris Mann is also a longshot.

After that, it gets more difficult. I picked Tony Lucca from the beginning to win, but even I recognize his limited vocals. There is even some chance that Adam will give Katrina something like 75 points so she can make it to the finale over Tony Lucca. But it’s pretty doubtful that the show would do that, and Tony has taken over the iTunes lead for the Top 16. He appears to have the edge in public voting and did get more votes than Katrina. So Adam would risk losing by picking someone who has already shown she probably can’t get the votes to win.

Somewhat surprisingly, former odds favorite Juliet Simms got less votes than Jamar Rogers in the Top 16. However, part of the problem may have been the odd black angel wings and song choice, which did not really do her any favors. She is supposed to be a rocker but just looked like an idiot in something that would work for Cee Lo but not for Juliet. I predict that Juliet will have a better performance in the Top 8 semifinals, and I give the edge to her to make it to the finale on Cee Lo’s team.

There isn’t much need to analyze Erin Willett’s chances. She was saved by Blake after not getting the votes, and her iTunes sales were really low. Jermaine is the odds-on favorite to make it to the 4-person finale on Blake’s team. Unless he totally blows it, Jermaine will survive the Top 8 and move on to the finale.

Lindsey started out as a favorite, although I never felt she deserved that status. Whatever luster she had has now been wiped away, and her iTunes sales plummeted in the last round. For the Top 8, the most she can hope for is to give her best performance and hope there are limited “cute guy” votes for Chris Mann. Despite having lost the vote in the last round, I predict that Lindsey will squeak out a win against Chris Mann in the Top 8. Her odds to win are lower than Chris’s at the moment, so I am predicting a mild upset on Team Christina.

Here are the odds from Bovada for the Top 8:

Tony Lucca 2.75
Jamar Rogers 3.00
Juliet Simms 4.00
Jermaine Paul 11.00
Chris Mann 16.00
Lindsey Pavao 21.00
Katrina Parker 26.00
Erin Willett 31.00
