American Idol 11 (2012) Top 8 Winning Odds and Predictions

For the Week of 8 on American Idol 11, there are no dramatic changes in the odds. Philip Phillips is still the favorite to win it all (2.75). Jessica Sanchez is also still ranked 2nd. At 3.25, she is pretty close to Philip in the odds to win.

Colton Dixon is also still third. Colton has been the biggest mover in the season in a positive direction. He was as low as 11.0 in the odds (the lower the number, the better) and is now at 5.50.

Colton could win this whole thing. I don’t bet much anymore, but he may be the best bet when considering the odds and what payout you would get if he does win. In terms of the type of singer that wins, Colton and Philip are about the same and look like winners. Jessica doesn’t look anything like a winner since Season 6. And while I personally feel that she is way better than Jordin Sparks, that in no way means she can win. Sparks was a total fluke and won because she was a better singer than Blake and more popular than Melinda Doolittle, who was a better singer. Overall, Season 6 was one of weakest seasons, and Season 11 is one of the strongest.

After these top 3, pretty much everyone is a longshot. Joshua Ledet is at 10.0, Hollie Cavanagh is at 11.0, and Skylar Laine is also at 11. Elise is at 16, and DeAndre is in the outhouse with a paltry 51 Again, a high number is bad in betting odds unless you have a strong reason to believe that such a longshot can win. There is no reason to believe that in the case of DeAndre.

Much like the odds, my prediction is that either Skylar, Hollie, Elise, or DeAndre will be eliminated in the Top 8. Philip, Colton, Jessica, and Joshua have nothing to worry about as long as there is a judges’ save left because it would used on any of them in a New York minute. Elise might get a save, but the others have no shot at this point.
