RaeLynn is a teen country singer on the 2nd season of The Voice. She is on Blake Shelton’s team. I don’t think for a second that RaeLynn won her Battle Round. She was very poor, and the outcome looked so clearly predetermined.
With that said, it’s hardly surprising that RaeLynn made the Top 24 because Blake is a country singer and likes to have at least some country singers on his team. Being 16 also worked in her favor, as the lame justification that she is 16 and the fake claim that she is unique were used in full force to pick her.
RaeLynn has no chance of winning The Voice 2. She shouldn’t even be in the competition, and it is just a matter of time now. RaeLynn might get the country vote or even get chosen again by Blake to proceed past the Top 24. But the writing in on the wall. RaeLynn will not win The Voice, but of course I can still root for her to improve and carve out a career in country music.
RaeLynn is doing Maroon 5’s “Wakeup Call.” This phrasing is ridiculously overcooked. Parts of it show some power, but then she has parts where she doesn’t show enough power. Overall, though, it was an okay performance. The intentional distortion of the voice will get old really fast, though.
