The Voice 2 Tony Lucca Battle Rounds vs. Chris Cauley

Tony Lucca is a singer, musician and former Mouseketeer. He is competing on the 2nd season of The Voice. Lucca has already made it past the blind auditions and will appear in the Battle Round. The Voice’s Battle Rounds consist of head-to-head competitions against members of the same team. In this case, Tony picked Adam as his coach, so he will have to compete against an opponent of Adam’s choosing.

This battle will essentially be a foregone conclusion. Barring any behind-the-scenes craziness happening, Tony will be chosen as the winner of his battle because he is obviously one of the favorites. Even if Adam has temporary insanity, there is no way the producers are going to let him not pick Lucca for the live voting rounds.

Due to strange song choices or other factors, almost anyone can lose a Battle Round against an underdog. But the show knows who is supposed to win, and the judges will come up with any reason to justify picking a favorite as the winner. That is not to say Tony will not legitimately perform better in his battle. It’s just that the Battle Round is really more of a gimmick and change of pace than a legitimate one-on-one contest. In fact, if anything major about the show ever changes, it will probably be the Battle Rounds. They seem to drag out, and it’s very hard to get a sense of how well someone is performing when they are singing only less than half the song in most cases.

At any rate, look for Tony to win his Battle Round and be a favorite to make the finals of The Voice 2. Check here later for a recap and results of the action.

We find out that Tony is battling Chris Cauley. They are singing U2’s “Beautiful Day.” Alanis Morissette comes in to mentor and advise Tony, and Robin Thicke advises Chris Cauley. Tony is considered the favorite here, but they tease Tony possibly having problems with his power notes.

I thought this was pretty close. Objectively, neither knocked it out of the park, but both were good. One could even argue for Chris to win it. Blake said Chris. Christina picked Tony. Cee Lo picked Tony. Adam picks Tony Lucca.
