The American Idol 11 (2012) finale performance episode is on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. The following night (Wednesday, the 23rd), the Season 11 champion will be crowned.
As usual, there will be a slew of different celebrity guest performance on the Wednesday finale results episode. This article is a running list of those who are scheduled to perform. This lineup is subject to change, and rumors (even from a primary source) can turn out to be wrong. Also, we won’t necessarily know who all will be performing because Idol sometimes makes some last-minute decisions.
You can also expect many of the contestants to return, as well. Usually, you will see the entire Top 12. There was a Top 13 this year, but Jermaine Jones was disqualified. Don’t expect him to make any appearances unless he is sitting in the audience.
So far, here is what I have heard out there:
1. Rihanna will be performing “Where Have You Been,” which is latest single. This has been confirmed by Idol.
2. Aerosmith (judge Steven Tyler’s band) will be performing their new single. The Rolling Stone article where Aerosmith guitarist announced the finale appearance does not mention the name of the single.
3. Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery will be performing in the finale, as well. This has also been confirmed by Idol.
4. The Top 12 will be there. Idol has confirmed this, as well.
5. Jessica Sanchez will sing with the original Dreamgirls’ Effie, Jennifer Holliday.
6. There is a rumor that Joshua Ledet is singing with Fantasia, but that is not confirmed (confirmed now by The Hollywood Reporter).
7. The boys will sing with Neil Diamond.
8. The boys will do a Bee Gees tribute.
9. Jessica and Kristen Chenoweth will sing “Enough Is Enough” as part of the Donna Summer tribute.
10. The girls will do a Donna Summer tribute that includes Gladys Knight, Gloria Gaynor, Thelma Houston, Jennifer Holliday, Sheila E., and Nelly Furtado.
11. The girls will sing with Chaka Khan.
12. Philip will sing with Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty.
13. Skylar Laine will sing with Reba McEntire.
14. Hollie will sing an undisclosed Broadway showtune with Season 6 champion Jordin Sparks.
