Contestant: Melanie Wright
Song Choice: David Guetta’s “Titanium”
Melanie Wright is 48 years old. She works as a paralegal in Maryland. She wants to be big like Carrie Underwood. She says she has been preparing since she was like 3 years old.
Melanie sings “Titanium,” the David Guetta song. It’s terrible. You can tell it’s a joke right away. It sounded like a ghost or something singing.
The 3rd season of the US version of X Factor premiered on September 11, 2013. As usual, there are some initial auditions, followed by live rounds. This audition is from the 5th episode, which aired on September 25.
There are some major changes on the judges’ panel for Season 3. L.A. Reid is out, and Kelly Rowland is in. Britney Spears is also gone, and Paulina Rubio has taken her place. Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato have returned as judge-mentors.
Melanie Wright auditioned on the September 25, 2013 episode with a performance of “Titanium.” I will add the YouTube video for this performance as soon as it is available on the X Factor’s official channel.
Judges’ Comments on Melanie’s Audition:
The judges mostly acted speechless. Simon says Wright was like finding out that Cinderella works at the Playboy mansion.
Melanie has no chance of ever doing well on these singing reality TV shows. It’s unlikely they would even want her as a joke contestant since she isn’t particularly funny or eccentric or anything like that to make up for the bad singing.
All of the judges said NO.
