YouTube Video: Janelle Arthur’s Performance Of Vince Gill’s “When I Call Your Name” In American Idol 12 Top 5

Contestant: Janelle Arthur

Song: Vince Gill’s “When I Call Your Name”

Janelle is going 2nd tonight. This song apparently made her stop crying when she was a baby. This song seems too laid back. Being boring is the last thing you want to be on American Idol. Arthur hit a couple of sweet notes. The rest of the song was like a sleeping pill.

Early Prediction:

Janelle was announced as being either 3rd or 4th in the voting in the Top 6. Amber was 5th, and Lazaro was 6th and eliminated. Kree and Candice were the top two on the week, in no particular order.

Janelle did not go first or last. She was pretty much in the middle as far as performance and voting results. The week before, Arthur was in the bottom 2.

At this point, it appears that Janelle is 4th or 5th overall in the voting among the 5 girls left. She has a pretty high risk of being eliminated this week. But there is also a good chance that any of these 5 girls will be saved. I’d say either Janelle or Amber will be 5th in voting but probably saved this week.

With only 5 contestants left in the competition, Idol will crown its Season 12 champion in 3 weeks. Janelle’s Top 5 YouTube performance video of “When I Call Your Name” will be embedded below as soon as the show makes it available on that site.

Crowd Reaction:

The audience had a decent reaction to this song.

Judges’ Thoughts On Janelle Arthur’s Top 5 Performance:

Nicki said she is better when she has her guitar. She wants her to do that more. Randy says he thought it was beautiful and the real Janelle. Mariah believed her. She thought she was singing with her whole heart. She told Janelle to keep up her confidence. Keith said the song is all emotion. Her voice is beautiful, but she didn’t feel the emotion of the song.

The Top 5 results show is on Thursday, April 18, 2013.
