The America’s Got Talent 7 Top 48 is the first live voting round of the season. The 48 acts are chosen by the producers and judges and then put into 4 groups of 12. Wordspit And The Illest were in the 3rd group, and they performed live on July 17, 2012.
The YouTube video below contains Wordspit And The Illest’s Top 48 performance. If you don’t see it when visiting this page, that means I am still waiting for it to be uploaded to YouTube. It takes some time after each AGT episode to make the videos and post them online.
Wordspit And The Illest are a band who play their own instruments, rap, and sing. This group has been quite overpraised on this show. The rapper will not be appealing to most voters, so that is their first problem. The singer was good the first audition but not very good in Vegas from the short clip that was aired of Wordspit’s audition.
This group will probably need to perform last and have ridiculous amounts of overpraise heaped on them to make it to the next round of AGT 7. There is nothing special about either the singing, the rapping, or the instrumentation. They should completely drop the rapper, who adds nothing positive to the group. In today’s world of horrible music, they would have some chance of success if writing good songs. But on AGT, this band has no chance of winning even if they somehow survive the Top 48.
