The America’s Got Talent 7 Top 48 is the first live voting round of the season.
William Close performed his music and instrument-making act on July 24, 2012. The YouTube video below contains Close’s Top 48 performance. If you don’t see that video yet, it is because it may take an hour or two for it to be uploaded to YouTube so I can add it here, as well.
Close got a bye in Vegas and was sent straight through to the Top 48. This does not mean he is one of the three favorites. They probably just didn’t want to take the time to have him build another instrument at the theater there in Vegas and just decided to put him straight through.
However, I do feel that William Close has a pretty good chance of making it to the next round. He has one of the most unique music acts seen on America’s Got Talent. William builds his own instruments, and he made an “earth harp” during the first audition.
The downfall to the act is that his instrument playing does not seem that great. What that means is that the instrument is going to have to be really cool every time. Otherwise, he will lose votes because the actual live performance may leave something to be desired. But since we don’t know what instrument he is going to make, it is going to be difficult to predict how Close will do in the voting before actually seeing his performance. Olate Dogs, on the other hand, will almost certainly make it to the next round.
Check out the results episode for William’s group of 12 acts on July 25, 2012. He is in a very tough group, so this should be the most interesting results episode of Season 7.
