The America’s Got Talent 7 Top 48 is the first live voting round of the season.
David “The Bullet” Smith performed his Human Cannonball act on July 24, 2012. This is the 4th group of 12 contestants in the Top 48. However, we will also see a YouTube round and a wildcard group compete for a spot in the Top 24.
The YouTube video below contains David Smith’s Top 48 performance. The video are usually available around two hours after the live show is over.
This act really lasts only a few seconds. But it requires a lot of setup before the show, including getting the proper angle on the cannon and setting up the net at the right distance to catch David after he shoots himself out of the cannon. This is the only AGT act this year that is being performed outside because there is not enough room inside the theater.
This type of act is exciting for a few seconds, but I would think it is just not that dangerous. True, you could die if you screw up the angle of the cannon. But what are the odds of actually screwing it up. Unless Smith is really crazy, he has some dummy that weighs the same as him to do a test run before actually shooting himself out of the cannon. That all but removes the risk entirely, with the only other potential problem being some bizarre mechanical anomaly with the cannon.
The other problem with this act is that it is the same thing over and over again. He might get through one voting round, but that’s probably the end of the line for David The Bullet Smith and his Human Cannonball act.
