Act: Chicago Boys
Genre: Acrobat Team And Jump Ropers
These guys are from the south side of Chicago. They say it’s a dangerous place, and this acrobatic team has helped them stay away from gangs, drugs, etc. Tim Shaw is the head coach of this jump-roping and acrobatic group. He used to be in the Ringling Brothers and Barnum And Bailey Circus.
The 8th season of America’s Got Talent is entering its 5th week of city-based auditions. This week’s episode aired on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. I will include a link to the YouTube video of Chicago Boys’ performance whenever it has been added.
Week 1 of Season 8 (June 4) featured, among others, Anna Christine, Marty Brown, Hype, and Catapult. Some of the possible favorites from week 2 included Collins Key, Paul Thomas Mitchell, Jonathan Allen, and Mariachi Nuevo Estillo AVM. Week 3 featured dancer Kenichi Ebina and Chinese female acrobat, Rong Niu.
In Week 4, the act that at least got the most buzz online was Aaralyn and Izzie. Their YouTube has already gotten over 10 million views. However, I am not so sure that will translate to being a favorite, as the little girl’s screaming rock style is not a popular genre. Forte, a male opera trio, also had a great audition.
Season 8 judges include Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howard Stern, and Howie Mandel.
Judges’ Comments On Chicago Boys’ Performance And Results:
All 4 judges gave them a standing ovation. Heidi said they brought the house down. She loved the action. Mel B said it was unique and captivating from start to end. Howie said they added testosterone and brought it home. Howard said something about their coach being good at putting together an act.
This type of act was pretty unique for what it was. The genre always suffers in later rounds, though. It will be seen as kind of repetitive unless they find something even more unique every round. That is going be difficult to do. Using the kid as a human jump rope was cool but didn’t show that much talent. The Chicago Boys really need to mix uniqueness with talent in the same tricks. Their tumbling was good, but we’ve already seen that over and over again. It’s not enough to win AGT.
