American Idol Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze is teaming up with other Idol alums as part of the Finalists Live concert series, which is held at the Andy Williams Theater in Branson, Missouri.
The YouTube video below is Lee doing a promo for the show, not the actual show. Elliott Yamin and Blake Lewis are joining him.
Lee has a good voice, and Elliott and Blake have their skills, as well. But this version of “Hallelujah” seems like something they threw together in 5 minutes.
Just compare it to the four Norwegian singers doing “Hallelujah” in the video below (click on the link because the embedding is disabled). As an American Idol fan, I am embarrassed that supposedly talented Idols are letting a bunch of Scandinavians show them up. Maybe these guys would have better careers if they took the music more seriously. It’s an embarrassment how lazy the arrangement was on Lee, Elliott, and Blake’s version of “Hallelujah.” Why even do it if you aren’t ready to give a compelling performance. Not to mention, it looks like they woke up 10 minutes before going on stage.
