Violent Crime News For Salem Township, Ohio: Grandmother Melinda Todd Shot And Killed In Home; 5-Year-Old Grandson, Cole Tyler Reed, Critically Injured reports that 43-year-old grandmother Melinda Todd was shot and killed in her home in Salem Township, Ohio. At the same time, her 5-year-old grandson, Cole Tyler Reed, was critically injured and clinging to life in the hospital. This murder and attempted murder took place on Monday, December 3, 2012. The address of the home is near the intersection of Route 45 and Salmar Drive.

There is no apparent motive at this time. There is some odd backstory that may or may not be relevant, though. Victim Melinda Todd’s daughter was recently sent to prison for killing one of her other grandsons. That child was less than a year old at the time. But it is not known whether the killer or killers in this case even know daughter and convict Miranda Todd or what motive the suspect or daughter would have for killing her mother.

The reports I have read only state there was a suspicious green SUV and a separate 4-door green car in the days before the murder of Melinda Todd and shooting of Cole Tyler Reed.
