Note: At the time of this writing, I only have the first name for this contestant. But I am writing this now because word is she was easily the best contestant at the Kansas City auditions for X Factor 2.
Charlotte sang Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman.” The crowd went nuts, and the judges all loved it.
This may be Season 2′s Stacy Francis, but she seems to and hopefully does have a better personality than Stacy.
Her vocals were very confident and powerful. However, Charlotte’s type seems to always get knocked for lacking originality. This is her first hurdle. She needs to sing a rock song or some softer pop ballad to show that she has some finesse to go along with the power.
Based on what we have heard so far, it looks like Charlotte will have a pretty good chance of making the voting rounds. We have an awfully long way to go, though. So anything could happen between now and then.
In terms of winner predictions, it looks like it will be tough for Charlotte to win. She is 43, and that “Over 30″ or whatever random age they choose does not tend to do well on X Factor. Also, if she is typecast as the old-fashioned power diva, that would be another mark against her. We need to see more to make a strong prediction, but she looks like someone who would go out between around 5th and 10th at this point if she does make it to the voting rounds.
