For the first time, The Voice is having non-team eliminations to determine the winner of Season 3. Starting with the Top 12, 2 contestants will be eliminated each week. There are no judges’ picks or saves. And it doesn’t matter whose team a singer is on from this point forward. The only thing that matters is the public votes. And the bottom 2 vote getters will be eliminated each week until there is a winner.
Cody sang Tina Turner’s “Simply The Best” for the Top 12. He was 4th in the singing order. This was almost a nonsensical song choice. His voice is too thin for this song. Last week’s “One More Try” was way better. There was nothing special about this performance. Those sweet notes from last week were not there at all.
Judges’ Opinions:
Adam says he is comfortable performer. Blake says he has great stage presence. Christina enjoyed it, but she thought it should be even more upbeat. Cee Lo enjoys him as a personality and a friend. He says he is a pleasure but does not seem overly confident that he will make it far.
Predictions Before The Show:
Cody had to get picked by Cee Lo Green to advance to the Top 12. And while I definitely agreed with that pick at that time, Avery Wilson should have been on Cee Lo’s team at this point. Cody has an average chance of advancing past the Top 12. He had his best performance in the playoff round and appears to be trending upward. Cody really needs Adriana Louise, Melanie Martinez, and Michaela Paige to get as few votes as possible. Before the show airs, I am inclined to believe that Adriana and Melanie will be eliminated. But Michaela and Cody are also in the danger zone.
