FOX is debuting two dating reality TV/game shows on June 7, 2012. In addition to “The Choice,” where celebrity guests choose non-celebrity dates, FOX is going to air “Take Me Out.” The premiere episode is at 8 Eastern time, and it precedes “The Choice,” which is on at 9 p.m.
The host of “Take Me Out” is George Lopez. He recently had TBS’s Lopez Tonight, but that was cancelled in 2011.
Format:
Entertainment Weekly has a rough explanation of the format. The show starts with 30 ladies. They go through several rounds of learning about bachelors, eliminating the ones that they do not like. However, every guy is still alive so long as at least one girl has not eliminated him.
After the final round, one or more men will still be alive. For example, if Sally, Alice, and Melissa have not eliminated John, then it’s John’s turn to ask the ladies a question. John would then pick one of the ladies for a date.
What I don’t like about this format is that the ladies are doing the initial picking. I want to know more about the ladies, but this format is going to teach us more about the guys. Yes, the guy gets to pick in the end. But that is only after the lady answers one measly question. I will check out the premire episode of “Take Me Out” even if I am skeptical. George Lopez is hilarious at times, and that could make it fun to watch.
