Luke Bryan was one of the guests who performed on this finale. He sang “That’s My Kind Of Night.” I will add the YouTube video of this performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel.

2007: I’ll Stay Me
2009: Doin’ My Thing

The “Crash My Party” single has sold over 1.1 million copies in American, making it a platinum hit. Luke’s current single is “That’s My Kind Of Night.” It has sold almost half a million copies so far, but it was only released last month. So this one could top one million pretty soon.

America’s Got Talent 8 had its grand finale results show on September 18, 2013. In addition to crowning the winner, who will take home $1 million, AGT has several guest musical and dance performers lined up for this finale.

Josh Groban was one of the guests who performed on this finale. He sang with this season’s finalists, Forte (the opera trio). I will add the YouTube video of this performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel.

Background:

Josh Groban is an American opera singer. Other than “You Raise Me Up,” most of his success has come from albums instead of radio hits or other singles. But the albums have sold very well, including a huge seller in his Christmas album. According to Wikipedia, he has sold over 25 million albums. The first one was his self-titled album, in 2001. “All That Echoes” is his 6th and latest album. Noël was the #1 selling album of 2007 in the U.S. It has sold over 5 million copies.

Here are the members of the group:

Urs Bühler – Switzerland
Sébastien Izambard – France
David Miller – USA
Carlos Marín – Spain

Il Divo has been making albums since 2004. Their latest one is “A Musical Affair.”

YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 Finale Results Show Performance Of Icona Pop’s “All Night” (September 18, 2013)

America’s Got Talent 8 had its grand finale results show on September 18, 2013. In addition to crowning the winner, who will take home $1 million, AGT has several guest musical and dance performers lined up for this finale.

Music duo Icona Pop was one of the guests who performed on this finale. I will add the YouTube video of this performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel. Icona Pop made the national-television debut of their new single, “All Night,” on this AGT finale show.

Background:

Icona Pop is a duo from Sweden. The members are Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo. They formed in 2009. Their first album was “Icona Pop,” which was released in 2012. That album doesn’t seem to have sold so well, in part because it was not even released internationally. But the main single, “I Love It,” has been very successful. It has sold over 2 million downloads in just the United States. That song features Charli XCX.

This new song, “All Night,” is from the “This Is…Icona Pop” album. This new album is actually scheduled for release a few days after this AGT finale.

YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 Finale Results Show Performance Of The Rockettes (September 18, 2013)

America’s Got Talent 8 had its grand finale results show on September 18, 2013. In addition to crowning the winner, who will take home $1 million, AGT has several guest musical and dance performers lined up for this finale.

The Rockettes, who are a fixture at Radio City Music Hall, performed on this finale (this is the first season AGT has had its live shows at Radio City). I will add the YouTube video of this Rockettes performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel.

Background:

According to Wikipedia, The Rockettes formed in 1925 and started performing in Radio City Music Hall in 1932. They are famous for their leg kicks. But the group actually puts on a whole show around ballet and some modern dance and other styles of dancing.

In addition to doing an annual Christmas special out of Radio City, the Rockettes tour around the country. I’m not sure what the source for this is, but the claim is that they perform for two million audience members every year. YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 – Top 6 Finals – Opera Trio, Forte’s “Caruso” (September 17, 2013)

Act: Forte

Genre: This is the opera trio that is made up of 3 guys. One is Puerto Rican, one is Sri Lankan, and the other I believe is Italian.

Live Blogging Notes:

This was the last performance of the finals, giving Forte the best chance possible of winning as far as performance order. In my opinion, this was their best vocal by far. The annoying part is it was all in Italian I think, and I don’t know the name of the song. I finally found out it is called “Caruso,” a Lucio Dalla song.

America’s Got Talent 8 has reached its final week. There are 6 contestants left, and it’s all up to voters now to decide who wins one million dollars. The final performance episode is on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Then, the grand finale results show is on September 18, 2013. That is when the new million-dollar winner will be revealed.

I will link to the official YouTube video for Forte’s Top 6 finals performance of “Caruso” as soon as it has been uploaded onto AGT’s official channel.

Judges’ Comments On Forte’s Performance:

Heidi says she loves this song, and they did it justice. Mel B said it was breathtaking and gorgeous. They seem like they have been together forever. Howie says it was a great performance. Howard just doesn’t like opera. But Forte is so good. He said they harmonize perfectly. They are terrific.

Forte Predictions Before The Show Airs:

I have ranked Forte #2 heading into this Top 6 final week. Opera does very well in voting on America’s Got Talent in general. And although no opera group has made the top 3 (solo singers have done better), Forte has essentially taken out Jonathan Allen and Branden James, who were both solo opera singers in Season 8. So here they are in the finals. I do think Forte has a better chance of winning than the Texas Tenors. They are much better than those guys were and simply seem more genuine. On the other hand, you have to consider that a solo act almost always wins America’s Got Talent. Weighing everything up, I won’t be surprised if Forte wins. But I have ranked them 2nd before seeing the live finale performances.

Predictions And Rankings For The Top 6 Finale:

As long as people are willing to vote in large numbers for a foreigner (Japanese guy) like Kenichi, then I think he will win. But certainly some percentage may feel that at least some of the million is going overseas and would prefer that the money stay here. That is not the way I think. But I know some Americans might not vote for Ebina for that reason. I’d like to think that is a small percentage, though. So before the show airs, I am still ranking Kenichi #1.

Forte has been consistent and probably deserves a #2 ranking. It starts to get more difficult here, though, because the other acts have been a bit inconsistent. I am only ranking Collins Key #3 because he seems to get the votes no matter what he does. His status as a favorite seems to have been locked up from the very beginning. Howard is right that his pacing is an issue.

At this point, I wouldn’t even be shocked if Jimmy Rose wins. He is the least deserving of being here. I only rank him 4th because he fits the demographic. In fact, he fits it so well that he could pull an upset win.

I have never considered Cami Bradley a favorite. She has been pretty consistent, but I consider it consistent above average, not consistently great. So I ranked her 5th before the finals air.

Taylor has been my second favorite. He has been just a little inconsistent. It is a little surprising that he ended up making the top 6. I think it’s going to be very difficult for a comedian to compete in this top 6. You can laugh and laugh. But will it be as impressive or moving as Kenichi? I doubt it.

YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 – Top 6 Finals – Dancer Kenichi Ebina (September 17, 2013)

Act: Kenichi Ebina

Genre: Kenichi is the Japanese dancer who creates original performances by interacting with characters on a screen. He also does some magic and did a flying illusion in the top 12.

Live Blogging Notes:

This is Kenichi’s 2nd and final performance of the finals. This is the 11th out of 12 performances on this episode.

He danced in sync to characters on the screen. While the story was not super compelling, the timing was fantastic. This was not his best performance. But it was another great one. I think he may have opened the door for Forte to win, though.

I will link to the official YouTube video for Kenichi Ebina’s Top 6 finals performance as soon as it has been uploaded onto AGT’s official channel.

Judges’ Comments On Kenichi’s Performance:

Mel B said she thought that performance was a bit off. It didn’t blow her away. She was the only judge not to give a standing ovation. Heidi says he has done so many things. And she would vote for him if she was at home. Howard says this is mesmerizing. He deserves to win. Howie agrees with Howard and begs the voters to vote for Kenichi.

Kenichi Ebina Predictions Before The Show Airs:

In short, I am ranking this contestant #1 before the show airs. It’s clear that Howie has him pegged as the favorite to win. Howard possibly has him as the favorite, but it’s not quite as clear. Mel B and Heidi have not clearly stated a favorite among these 6 final acts.

If we are going on talent, Kenichi gets a check. If we are going on overall entertainment value and uniqueness, he gets checkmarks. On the traditional factors for success cited on these shows, you have to rank him at the top. There is some question that he may lose votes because he is a foreigner with a family in Japan. If he loses out, it might be because of that. Either way, this guy is getting his own show somewhere. He’s simply too unique and talented not to be getting work.

Predictions And Rankings For The Top 6 Finale:

As long as people are willing to vote in large numbers for a foreigner (Japanese guy) like Kenichi, then I think he will win. YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 – Top 6 Finals – Standup Comedian Taylor Williamson’s Second Comedy Routine (September 17, 2013)

Act: Taylor Williamson

Genre: Standup Comedian

Live Blogging Notes:

This is the second performance of the finals for Taylor. It is the 10th of tonight’s 12 total performances.

He joked about hooking up with Heidi. Most of the routine was about girls and Taylor not getting any. And he is not gay. LOL. I don’t know if this was worth $1 million. But it did have me laughing.

America’s Got Talent 8 has reached its final week. There are 6 contestants left, and it’s all up to voters now to decide who wins one million dollars. I will link to the official YouTube video for Taylor Williamson’s Top 6 finals performance (second routine) as soon as it has been uploaded onto AGT’s official channel.

Judges’ Comments On Taylor’s Performance:

Heidi has gotten to think he is funny over time. Mel B said he is funny. There are no other words to describe it. Howie says people should vote for him. Howard says comedians get overlooked. If you believe in him, vote for him. He never wants to fast forward with Taylor.

Taylor Williamson Predictions Before The Show Airs:

I have ranked Taylor last out of the 6 contestants in this AGT 8 finale. That’s not based on personal preference, as I would have him 2nd at this point. That’s because, in addition to having funny routines, Taylor takes it one step further and is even hilarious during judges’ comments and interviews. This is not common even for comedians. This guy deserved to make the finals in my opinion. I like Kenichi a bit more, but Williamson is tops for me aside from him.

At the same time, this is just a grueling little finals. Tom Cotter did finish 2nd last year. So there is potential for Taylor to do better. But because he only finished 4th in his round of 12 in the top 60, he seems to be barely surviving through these rounds. So I have ranked him 6th but wouldn’t be surprised if he beat a singer or two to make the top 4.

Predictions And Rankings For The Top 6 Finale:

YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 – Top 6 Finals – Country Singer Jimmy Rose – “The Dance” (September 17, 2013)

Act: Jimmy Rose

Genre: Jimmy is a country singer from Kentucky.

Live Blogging Notes:

This was Jimmy’s 2nd performance in the finale. It was the 9th of 12 performances on this episode. Click on the tags below to see the article for his “Coal Keeps The Lights On” performance.

For this Round 2, Jimmy sang Garth Brooks’ “The Dance.” This is one of my favorite songs ever. Jimmy did not get the full emotion. It was just an okay performance. But considering how these voters are, it might have been enough for him to win. But at this point in the episode, it looks like Forte or Kenichi to win.

I will link to the official YouTube video for Jimmy Rose’s Top 6 finals performance of “The Dance” as soon as it has been uploaded onto AGT’s official channel.

Judges’ Comments On Rose’s Performance:

Mel B wants to hear his voice on the radio. And he seems to be such a nice guy. Howie didn’t hear the dynamics in the performance. Howard said that he needed a knockout punch. This got both applause and boos from the audience. Heidi says it is tough. But she says Jimmy gives America what they want to hear.

Jimmy Rose Predictions Before The Show Airs:

The thing making it difficult to rank Jimmy is that the producers have had him go last or next to last every single live round. That is best part of the lineup to get votes. So what if he goes first tonight? That’s where he should go, with Kenichi going last. Jimmy simply doesn’t deserve to be in the finals. Over Catapult? Absolutely no way. But as I state below, I wouldn’t even be surprised if Rose won the whole thing. He fits the voting demographic on this show perfectly, so it seems. He probably isn’t even an average singer but is certainly no better than average. The voters need to come to their senses and reward talent instead of voting on what they are used to seeing. Recognize the talent, for crying out loud.

Predictions And Rankings For The Top 6 Finale:

As long as people are willing to vote in large numbers for a foreigner (Japanese guy) like Kenichi, then I think he will win. YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 – Top 6 Finals – Teen Magician Collins Key’s YouTube Prediction (September 17, 2013)

Act: Collins Key

Genre: This is the teen magician.

Live Blogging Notes:

This is Collins’s second performance of the night and 8th out of 12 performances in this finals episode.

He did a YouTube video prediction. He predicted the three people and the hashtags that the judges would choose out of a group of people. The weak part of the trick is that Mel B and Heidi were forced to make their picks. Only Howie supposedly made a random choice of pictures. But it was still a pretty good trick unless Howie was in on it. But because such a possibility exists, I think this trick was only a partial success.

I will link to the official YouTube video for Collins Keys’s Top 6 finals performance (YouTube Prediction) as soon as it has been uploaded onto AGT’s official channel.

Judges’ Comments On Key’s Performance:

Mel B is getting the magic now. Howie said it was the clearest and most concise performance he has given. Howard said this was better than last week. But he didn’t seem too crazy about it. Heidi likes his fresh take on magic.

Collins Key Predictions Before The Show Airs:

This guy is one of those acts who can seemingly do no wrong with the voters. He has had a couple of questionable weeks with not-so-good tricks. It’s obvious to people who try to figure out magic that Key uses shills. I just think there are better ways of doing magic than using obvious shills. The judges have not pointed this out at all. In fact, really only Howard has given any negative criticism at all, saying that Collins’s timing or pacing is not sharp.

I think we’ve seen the best of this guy already. I have ranked him 3rd, thinking that he has one good but not mind-blowing trick left. I would rank him lower but am keeping him at 3rd because he appears to have a strong fanbase built from the very beginning that is sticking with him to the end.

Predictions And Rankings For The Top 6 Finale:
