One woman was killed in this two-vehicle crash. She was a passenger in a Lincoln Town Car that was struck by a Mack truck. The car driver was injured, but there was no report of injuries when it comes to the truck driver.

Time: About 7 in the morning
City / County / State: Charlotte, North Carolina
Address: Near the intersection of North Graham Street and West Craighead Road
1. Quanisha Layjoyce Cherry was 27 years old.
Adoma Dell Conner, who was also arrested, sustained minor injuries. He is 29.
Police say Conner told them a story about the car going out of control as he hit the brakes. He apparently said the car turned to the left on its own, which is how it ended up in the path of other vehicles. Conner also described having a faulty gear shift, which made it impossible for him to move the Lincoln Town Car before it was struck by the Mack truck.
While police do not believe speed or alcohol is a factor, they arrested Conner based on unspecified evidence. He is suspected of misdemeanor death by vehicle. This is not a felony, so a multi-year prison sentence would not apply if authorities go ahead and prosecute. Misdemeanors often result in probation but could carry a jail sentence of up to about a year.
Despite an arrest, there was no word on formal charges yet.
