YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 Finale Results Show Performance Of Country Singer Luke Bryan’s “That’s My Kind Of Night” (September 18, 2013)

America’s Got Talent 8 had its grand finale results show on September 18, 2013. In addition to crowning the winner, who will take home $1 million, AGT has several guest musical and dance performers lined up for this finale.

Luke Bryan was one of the guests who performed on this finale. He sang “That’s My Kind Of Night.” I will add the YouTube video of this performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel.

Background:

Luke Bryan is one of the hottest country singers these days. He first released an album in 2007. Here is the full list:

2007: I’ll Stay Me
2009: Doin’ My Thing
2011: Tailgates & Tanlines
2013: Crash My Party

The “Crash My Party” single has sold over 1.1 million copies in American, making it a platinum hit. Luke’s current single is “That’s My Kind Of Night.” It has sold almost half a million copies so far, but it was only released last month. So this one could top one million pretty soon.

YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 Finale Results Show Performance Of Opera Singer Josh Groban And Forte (September 18, 2013)

America’s Got Talent 8 had its grand finale results show on September 18, 2013. In addition to crowning the winner, who will take home $1 million, AGT has several guest musical and dance performers lined up for this finale.

Josh Groban was one of the guests who performed on this finale. He sang with this season’s finalists, Forte (the opera trio). I will add the YouTube video of this performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel.

Background:

Josh Groban is an American opera singer. Other than “You Raise Me Up,” most of his success has come from albums instead of radio hits or other singles. But the albums have sold very well, including a huge seller in his Christmas album. According to Wikipedia, he has sold over 25 million albums. The first one was his self-titled album, in 2001. “All That Echoes” is his 6th and latest album. Noël was the #1 selling album of 2007 in the U.S. It has sold over 5 million copies.

Il Divo (featuring Heather Headley) was one of the guests who performed on this finale. They did “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.” I will add the YouTube video of this performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel.

Il Divo is an opera quartet created by Simon Cowell. At least one source says Il Divo has sold more than 26 million albums around the world.

Here are the members of the group:

Urs Bühler – Switzerland
Sébastien Izambard – France
David Miller – USA
Carlos Marín – Spain

Il Divo has been making albums since 2004. Their latest one is “A Musical Affair.”

YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 Finale Results Show Performance Of Icona Pop’s “All Night” (September 18, 2013)

America’s Got Talent 8 had its grand finale results show on September 18, 2013. In addition to crowning the winner, who will take home $1 million, AGT has several guest musical and dance performers lined up for this finale.

Music duo Icona Pop was one of the guests who performed on this finale. I will add the YouTube video of this performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel. Icona Pop made the national-television debut of their new single, “All Night,” on this AGT finale show.

Background:

Icona Pop is a duo from Sweden. The members are Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo. They formed in 2009. Their first album was “Icona Pop,” which was released in 2012. That album doesn’t seem to have sold so well, in part because it was not even released internationally. But the main single, “I Love It,” has been very successful. It has sold over 2 million downloads in just the United States. That song features Charli XCX.

This new song, “All Night,” is from the “This Is…Icona Pop” album. This new album is actually scheduled for release a few days after this AGT finale.

YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 Finale Results Show Performance Of The Rockettes (September 18, 2013)

America’s Got Talent 8 had its grand finale results show on September 18, 2013. In addition to crowning the winner, who will take home $1 million, AGT has several guest musical and dance performers lined up for this finale.

The Rockettes, who are a fixture at Radio City Music Hall, performed on this finale (this is the first season AGT has had its live shows at Radio City). I will add the YouTube video of this Rockettes performance as soon as it is available from America’s Got Talent’s official channel.

Background:

According to Wikipedia, The Rockettes formed in 1925 and started performing in Radio City Music Hall in 1932. They are famous for their leg kicks. But the group actually puts on a whole show around ballet and some modern dance and other styles of dancing.

In addition to doing an annual Christmas special out of Radio City, the Rockettes tour around the country. I’m not sure what the source for this is, but the claim is that they perform for two million audience members every year. YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 (2013) Top 60 (Week 3): Predictions And Results (August 7, 2013)

Below, you can see a list of the 12 acts who competed in Week 3 of the America’s Got Talent 8 Top 60 (the quarterfinals round). That performance episode was on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. I am giving my predictions for who will advance after the live performances. The below list was my pre-show rankings, and they have changed to some degree. But my top pre-show pick, Kenichi Ebina, is still a lock to advance to the semifinals.

I will add the YouTube videos of this week’s live results as soon as they are available from AGT’s official channel.

Below my predictions, you can see the actual results of this 3rd week of the AGT 8 Top 60 quarterfinals.

Here were my initial rankings:

1. Kenichi Ebina
2. Jonathan Allen
3. Kelsey & Bailey
4. Brandon & Savannah
5. Chicago Boyz
6. The American Military Spouses Choir
7. Mitsi School of Dancing
8. Deanna DellaCioppa
9. Illusionist Leon Ettiene & Romy Low
10. Aerosphere Aerial Balloon Show
11. David “The Cobra Kid” Leathers
12. Jim Meskimen

Predictions:

Ultimately, my predictions on who will advance in tonight’s results episode are Kenichi Ebina, Jonathan Allen, Brandon & Savannah, and The American Military Spouses Choir.

My favorite 4 performances were definitely not what I am predicting. If it were up to me, the military choir wouldn’t even be close to making it. I would pick Kenichi Ebina, Jonathan Allen, Kelsey & Bailey, and throw a coin in the air for the 4th pick. All the others had big deficiencies. Reluctantly, I would pick Deanna DellaCioppa. I just don’t really like the other acts and just dislike Deanna a little less.

Kenichi is the only true lock to me. He is definitely advancing tonight. All of the other 3 picks could go to numerous contestants. But the ones who I think have almost no chance are Illusionist Leon Ettiene & Romy Low, Aerosphere Aerial Balloon Show, David “The Cobra Kid” Weathers, and Jim Meskimen.

Results of the 4 acts advancing to the semifinals for Week 3 of the Top 60 will be posted here (in no particular order):

1. The American Military Spouses Choir
2. Kenichi Ebina
3. Jonathan Allen
4. Chicago Boyz

Mitsi Dancing School and Chicago Boyz were announced as 4th and 5th, in no particular order. The judges have to pick. Mel B picks Chicago Boyz. Howard picks Chicago Boyz. Howie chooses the Chicago Boyz, so they advance to the semifinals.

Eliminated Acts:

David “The Cobra Kid” Leathers, Illusionist Leon Ettiene And Romy Low, Aerosphere Aerial Balloon Show, Brandon & Savannah, Kelsey & Bailey, Jim Meskimen, Deanna DellaCioppa

YouTube Video: America’s Got Talent 8 (2013) Top 60 (Week 2): Predictions And Results (July 31, 2013)

Below, you can see a list of the 12 acts who competed in Week 2 of the America’s Got Talent 8 Top 60 (the quarterfinals round). That performance episode was on Tuesday, July 30, 2013. I am giving my predictions for who will advance after the live performances. The below list was my pre-show rankings, and they have changed dramatically. For example, Marty Brown completely blew it, and the producers really pimped Tone The Chiefrocca so hard that he may have actually made the Top 4.

I will add the YouTube videos of this week’s live results as soon as they are available from AGT’s official channel.

I will also list the results of Week 2 of the AGT 8 Top 60 quarterfinals round as soon as Nick Cannon announces them on the live results show (July 31, 2013).

Here were my initial rankings:

1. Marty Brown (country singer)
2. Forte (Opera Trio)
3. Ciana Pelekia (Girl Singer)
4. Angela Hoover (Comedian And Impressionist)
5. Alexandr Magala (Sword Swallowing And Pole Dancing)
6. Innovative Force (Girl Dance Troupe)
7. Kid The Wiz (Breakdancer With Hat Tricks)
8. Dave Shirley (Comedian)
9. Struck Boyz (Boy Dance Troupe)
10. Tone The Chiefrocca (Rapper)
11. The Aquanuts (Synchronized Swimmers)
12. Brad Byers (Sword Swallower)

Predictions:

Boy, did Marty Brown sound like a total amateur. He was my top pick in this group before the performances. I think it was so bad that the voters may turn on him. Although I wouldn’t be shocked if sympathy votes put him through, I am going to predict that he misses out this time.

Forte was my 2nd pick before the show. They are good to go and should easily advance to the semifinals.

Ciana Pelekai was my 3rd pre-performance pick. I was somewhat disappointed in her performance, but still think she has a pretty good chance to make the top 4 tonight.

Angela Hoover was my #4 pick. She simply wasn’t that funny, and the Mel B impression was seriously bad. It didn’t even sound like her. I think Angela probably did not make it.

On the flip side, Alexandr Magala delivered pretty big despite being a bit unpolished. But he delivered the danger aspect, which is his thing. I predict that Magala will advance tonight.

For me, Tone The Chiefrocca should not be in the contest. He wrote one song 10 years ago, showing that he is not really a songwriter. And he sang that exact same song and will apparently sing it for a 3rd time if he advances. But the show last night was practically set up for him to advance, with the ridiculous and nonsensical judges’ comments, going last to close the show, etc. So my prediction (and I hope I am wrong on this one) is that Tone The Chiefrocca will advance to the semifinals.

So my predictions on who will advance tonight are Forte, Ciana Pelekai, Alexandr Magala, and Tone The Chiefrocca. Many others could squeak in there. But the ones I predict have virtually no chance are Kid The Wiz, Dave Shirley, The Aquanuts, and Brad Byers.

Results of the 4 acts advancing to the semifinals for Week 2 of the Top 60 will be posted here (in no particular order):

1. Innovative Force
2. Marty Brown
3. Forte
4. Angela Hoover

Tone The Chiefrocca and Angela Hoover were 4th and 5th in the voting. If it’s a tie with the judges, we will find out who was 4th in the voting. And that act will advance. Otherwise, the judges’ majority vote will decide it.

Heidi picked Tone. Mel B chose Angela Hoover. Howie went on last night. He picks Tone. Howard picks Angela. So it goes to the voters again. Angela Hoover advances.

LOL me for changing my picks. 3 of my top 4 original predictions made the top 4 despite some shaky performances. I have no idea why people didn’t vote for Alexandr. But maybe it’s because it is mostly women, who might not like danger acts or guys swallowing swords as much as guys might vote for it. I thought a danger act would finally get through one round. Wrong.

Eliminated Acts:

Struck Boyz, Brad Byers, Kid The Wiz, Dave Shirley, The Aquanuts
