YouTube Video For Marielle Sellers – “Grenade” – American Idol 13 Auditions

When asked to say something encouraging before going in to audition, Marielle said, “A game.”

Marielle Sellers was the first singer to audition on Season 13 of American Idol. She is 17 years old. Marielle sang Bruno Mars’ “Grenade.”

Harry Connick said she would be a nightmare for the other contestants. Jennifer Lopez said that she had a beautiful tone, and Keith Urban remarked that he loved it. Keith ripped off one-third of a golden ticket, and then he and the other judges presented the whole ticket to Marielle. She was a unanimous choice to go to Hollywood.

Marielle played the guitar while singing. She didn’t really show that much power. At the same time, it seems like the show was teasing her as a possible favorite.

Here, you can see Marielle’s YouTube video for her “Grenade” audition after it is uploaded to their official channel.

YouTube Video For Sam Woolf – “Lego House” – American Idol 13 Auditions

Sam Woolf is 17 and from Bradenton, Florida. Keith said his pitch was incredible, and he was impressed at the fast tempo of this version. Jennifer said it opened up like a flower as the performance went along. Harry talked about Sam’s treble-clef tattoo. Harry won’t let his kid get one. He says NO to the tattoo but YES to Hollywood. Keith and Jennifer also said YES to the Hollywood audition round.

Sam sang “Lego House.” Harry said his daughters will love Sam, and he would actually go watch him perform. Overall, the judges seemed really impressed by Woolf. We’ll see if he can make it, but they really loved him.

Sam’s audition was on the first show of American Idol 13. It aired on Wednesday, January 15, 2014.

American Idol 12 YouTube Video: Candice Glover Interview And Performance Of “I Am Beautiful” On Live With Kelly And Michael

The following YouTube video contains an interview and musical performance from Candice Glover, who won the 12th season of American Idol last week.

The video is from the Live With Kelly and Michael morning talk show. After the interview, Candice performs her Idol coronation song and first post-Idol single, “I Am Beautiful.” ITunes sales of “I Am Beautiful” have been embarrassing so far. After peaking at about #10, it has plummeted to #38 already. This has to be considered a failure, considering that Phillip Phillips’ “Home” shot to #1 on iTunes within hours of his Season 11 win.

Vocally, this was a fine performance. There’s just isn’t much going on with this song. The lyrics also make the woman who is the subject of the song an aspiring cheater. Totally inappropriate for an Idol coronation song.

This video just got uploaded hours ago. At the time of writing, it showed 301+ views and had a perfect early user rating of 21 Likes and 0 Dislikes.

May 15, 2013: YouTube Video: Candice Glover’s Performance Of “I (Who Have Nothing)” In American Idol 12 Top 2 (Final Week)

Contestant: Candice Glover

Song: “I (Who Have Nothing)”

This was the last performance of the night. Kree made the odd decision to sing first even though she won the coin toss. However, singing order is not that important in the finale unless the contest is really close. But Kree should have chosen to go last because the votes are likely to be very close between these two.

She started out a cappella. Candice is just trying harder to win this. And I give this round to her. Overall, I gave 2 out of 3 rounds to Candice. I don’t vote. But I’d vote for her if I still voted (I don’t give a darn who wins a popularity contest).

Early Prediction:

Candice has been an excellent contestant throughout this season. I personally picked Angie to win, but she finished up in 3rd place last week. If we look at past results, though, there is a reason to believe that Kree could be the favorite to win here. Country singers seem to be getting more and more of an advantage on these shows. And an R&B/jazz singer like Glover would not be an expected pick. Pretty much no one like her has ever won to my recollection. So on talent, I give it to Candice. And this may just be one of those odd years where the most talented singer wins in the finals. And I would be just fine with that.

But Kree is also talented and arguably displays a prettier vocal tone and perhaps more emotion in her performances. And she is country. Neither looks like a winner, which is one of the reasons I did not pick either Candice or Kree to win.

All things considered, I am going to pick Kree Harrison to win this final, based on her demographic advantage. But I will not be surprised at all if Candice pull out a win. Based on what we have seen from voting, they have both gotten the most votes in certain weeks. So, unlike easy picks for Scotty McCreery and Philip Phillips the past two years, it’s really hard to predict who will win in 2013.

American Idol is about to crown its Season 12 champion. We are down to the final 2 of Candice Glover and Kree Harrison. Both of these singers will be performing 3 songs for this final week of competition. The performance episode is on May 15, 2013. I will add Candice’s three YouTube performance videos as soon as they are added to Idol’s official channel. Click on “american idol 12 final” to see all the articles and videos for this week.

Then, watch the season finale to find out who wins. That results episode airs on Thursday, May 16, 2013. The broadcast time is scheduled for 8 to 10:07 p.m. Eastern time.

Crowd Reaction:

The audience probably gave its biggest cheer of the night for this one. But that was kind of expected since it was the last performance.

Judges’ Thoughts On Candice Glover’s Top 2 Performance Of “I Who Have Nothing”:

All 4 judges gave this a standing ovation. Keith thought it was incredible. Nicki said she immediately owns every performance. Randy knows that girl can sing. She said this was a winning performance. Mariah says Candice has the ability to turn any song into something good for her voice.

Result:

The winner of Season 12 is announced on the 16th.

A few hours after these finals videos were added, this one appears to easily be the most popular one. It had a good user rating of 530 Likes and 17 Dislikes. Overall, Candice is leading all 3 rounds of the night just in terms of YouTube views. But this is far different than actual votes. It might be the same. But for example, Tate Stevens was near the bottom in YouTube views all season and still won X Factor 2.

May 15, 2013: YouTube Video: Kree Harrison’s Performance Of “Up To The Mountain” In American Idol 12 Top 2 (Final Week)

Contestant: Kree Harrison

Song: Patty Griffin’s “Up To The Mountain”

This is the 5th of the 6 overall performances in the final (3 each).

Like so many of her performance, Kree was a bit too subdued on this one. She really doesn’t seem that intent on winning. I just don’t know why. And the last note sounded sharp.

Early Prediction:

Honestly, I didn’t really expect either Kree or Candice Glover to be in the finals when I made predictions with 40 contestants left. I am less surprised now because Candice really cam on strong in certain weeks, having some of the best performances of the season.

While Candice seems to be peaking at the right time, and Kree has gone down some, it’s still difficult to give a confident prediction on who will win this 2013 American Idol finals. I’d personally give it to Candice on talent. But Kree seemingly has a strong advantage when it comes to the demographic of viewers who vote on this show. I give a big edge to Kree in that department. Based on at least my own opinion, viewers of Idol look more for a safe pick that does not stretch the boundaries of the boring radio edits that people are used to listening to. Good live singing is credited with some votes, but it is generally not enough to win Idol. You typically need to be a certain type of singer to emerge as the victor in the finals.

So looking at the type of singer who usually wins, I give the edge to Kree Harrison to be the new American Idol champion. But it is close enough that I would not be surprised if Candice Glover takes home a win.

The audience seemed to love this one.

Judges’ Thoughts On Kree Harrison’s Top 2 Performance Of “Up To The Mountain”:

Kree got a standing ovation from all 4 judges. Keith said it was absolutely beautiful. Nicki said it was even better than her single performance. Randy said that was a winning kind of performance. She has a country soul. Mariah said she felt the diversity across Kree’s performances. She said it will be difficult for America to decide.

Result:

The winner of Season 12 is announced on the 16th.

A few hours after this video was uploaded, it had a good user rating of 167 Likes and 17 Dislikes. Based on that, it appears to be 5th out of the 6 finals performances in terms of views. Candice is dominating the YouTube views over Kree. But the actual votes could be different. Country singers tend to get lower views on YouTube.

May 15, 2013: YouTube Video: Candice Glover’s Performance Of “I Am Beautiful” In American Idol 12 Top 2 (Final Week)

Contestant: Candice Glover

Song: “I Am Beautiful”

This was Candice’s 2nd performance of the final and the 4th overall out of the 6 total performances.

“I Am Beautiful” is Candice’s coronation song should she win tomorrow night. Regardless, it will probably be a hit single on iTunes. Kree’s “All Cried Out” would also be a solid coronation song if she wins.

I like Kree’s song more than this one. “I Am Beautiful” doesn’t have particularly creative lyrics. Candice certainly sang more loudly on this song than Kree’s performance of hers. She also had some good runs. This round was close as far as performance.

Early Prediction:

Candice has been an excellent contestant throughout this season. I personally picked Angie to win, but she finished up in 3rd place last week. The audience seemed to really like this one, as well.

Judges’ Thoughts On Candice Glover’s Top 2 Performance Of “I Am Beautiful”:

All 4 judges gave Glover a standing ovation. Nicki loved Kree’s composure in Round 2. She reached into the gut for this one. Nicki loved Candice’s song. Neither judge actually said which contestant they preferred in Round 2.

Result:

The winner of Season 12 is announced on the 16th.

The user ratings on this video when I checked was 247 Likes and 20 Dislikes. Based on those statistics, it appears to be the 3rd or 4th most popular video so far in terms of views, among the 6 finals performances. Kree is behind Candice by a fairly large margin, mostly because of “I (Who Have Nothing).” The coronation singles of “All Cried Out” and “I Am Beautiful” are close, however.

May 15, 2013: YouTube Video: Kree Harrison’s Performance Of “All Cried Out” In American Idol 12 Top 2 (Final Week)

Contestant: Kree Harrison

Song: “All Cried Out”

This is Kree’s coronation single if she wins the show. Either way, I believe this will be a hit. Both contestants will probably sell pretty well on iTunes. Jessica Sanchez pretty much failed last year. But Phillip Phillips had the biggest selling Idol single of all time, with “Home.”

“All Cried Out” was the 3rd of 6 total performances in this final. This could be a big country hit. This is ready for the radio right now. She also sang it a lot better than “Angel,” her first performance tonight.

Early Prediction:

Honestly, I didn’t really expect either Kree or Candice Glover to be in the finals when I made predictions with 40 contestants left. I am less surprised now because Candice really cam on strong in certain weeks, having some of the best performances of the season.

Randy, Mariah, and Keith gave this one a standing ovation. Nicki did not stand up.

Nicki loved Kree’s composure in Round 2. She reached into the gut for this one. Nicki loved Candice’s song. Keith loved both songs and says that both Kree and Candice are really soul singers. Neither judge actually said which contestant they preferred in Round 2.

Result:

The winner of Season 12 is announced on the 16th.

A few hours after this video was uploaded, it had a good YouTube user rating of 208 Likes and 19 Dislikes. However, based on those statistics, it appears to be dominated by all of Candice’s videos even though this is Kree’s most popular one. However, this one appears to be at least close to Candice’s “Chasing Pavements.”

May 15, 2013: YouTube Video: Carly Rae Jepsen’s Performance Of “Take a Picture” In American Idol 12 Top 2 (Final Week)

Carly Rae Jepsen had a special performance on the final performance episode of Wednesday, May 15, 2013. In this final, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison competed as Season 12’s final 2 contestants.

Carly Rae, who finished in 3rd place on Canadian Idol and became famous with her “Call Me Maybe” hit single, sang “Take a Picture” during this final episode.

“Take a Picture” is a song that the fans helped to create by selecting lyrics and other aspects of the song.

I will upload the YouTube video for Carly Rae Jepsen’s performance of this song as soon as it is available from American Idol’s official website.

May 15, 2013: YouTube Video: Candice Glover’s Performance Of “Chasing Pavements” In American Idol 12 Top 2 (Final Week)

Contestant: Candice Glover

Song: Adele’s “Chasing Pavements”

This was the 2nd performance of the final of the 6 total songs (3 each). Kree sang “Angel” in the first round. She had a prettier performance, but Candice just seems to be trying harder to show a style. I give this first round to Candice. I don’t think Kree is really trying hard enough to win this.

Judges’ Thoughts On Candice Glover’s Top 2 Performance Of “Chasing Pavements”:

Mariah said the first two performances were wow. She didn’t say which one was better to her. Randy said he didn’t like either song choice. But he gave the edge to Candice.

Result:

The winner of Season 12 is announced on the 16th.

In early statistics, this appears to be Candice’s least popular YouTube video for the finals. However, even this one seems to have as many or more hits than all of Kree’s videos. At the time of this update, it had 230 Likes and 12 Dislikes.

May 15, 2013: YouTube Video: Kree Harrison’s Performance Of “Angel” In American Idol 12 Top 2 (Final Week)

Contestant: Kree Harrison

Song: Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel”

This was the first performance of the night. As I said below, I really believe Kree has a better vocal tone between these two. But she only had two or three really beautiful notes. This was the same way she has been for a while. It’s like we are seeing 70 percent of her, not the whole singer. This song can make you cry, but I didn’t shed a tear because Kree didn’t take it all the way.

Early Prediction:

Honestly, I didn’t really expect either Kree or Candice Glover to be in the finals when I made predictions with 40 contestants left. I am less surprised now because Candice really cam on strong in certain weeks, having some of the best performances of the season.

Judges’ Thoughts On Kree Harrison’s Top 2 Performance Of “Angel”:

Mariah said the first two performances were wow. She didn’t say which one was better to her. Randy said he didn’t like either song choice. But he gave the edge to Candice. Mariah seemed to agree but said that Kree gave a subdued performance that was great, too.

Result:

The winner of Season 12 is announced on the 16th.

The video below had an early YouTube user rating of 149 Likes and 24 Dislikes. Based on those statistics, it appears to be one of the two least viewed videos so far for the finals. The other is Kree’s “Up To The Mountain.” However, YouTube views definitely do not determine the winner.
