YouTube Video: American Idol 12 Audition (“We Will Rock You”) And Predictions For Michael Buonopane (January 16, 2013)

The 12th season of American Idol premiered on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. As usual, the show started with its initial auditions. And we got our first look at the new judges. Randy Jackson has returned, but American Idol 12 is the first season for all the other judges. They are Keith Urban, Mariah Carey, and Nicki Minaj. Ryan Seacrest is returning to host the show.

I will embed Michael Buonopane’s YouTube audition video as soon as it is available. That could take a little time.

Michael’s Audition:

This audition was on the very first show of the season (January 16). It took place in New York. Buonopane had some performance skills, but he kept going from song to song, treating the audition sort of like a joke. He started out with Queen’s “We Will Rock You” without even introducing himself first and ended up on a reggae song. The judges said it wasn’t really their thing. Mariah said “YES” because she knew the other three would say “NO.” They did say “NO,” so Michael did not make it to Hollywood.

Predictions:

There’s no need to predict anything since Buonopane was eliminated right off the bat.

American Idol 12 Audition Preview Commercial With Angela “Angie” Miller And Paul Jolley

As is the typical routine, American Idol 12 has started slowly releasing some information about the new seasons. In one of the commercials leading up to the January 16, 2013 premiere of Idol’s 12th season, we got a glimpse of potentially 3 great singers. You can see this audition commercial preview in the YouTube clip embedded below.

The first girl is Angela “Angie” Miller. She is my favorite that I have heard so far from Season 12 spoilers (rumored Top 20 girls for American Idol 12 here and Top 20 guys here). It didn’t sound like a great first song choice (Jessie J’s “Mamma Knows Best”), but it’s very hard to pick the right song for a 15-second audition. But I am just in love with Angie Miller already from listening to performances on her YouTube channel.

The second contestant (the guy) appears to be Paul Jolley. His audition is Rascal Flatts’ “I Won’t Let Go.” Paul seems to be focusing on being a country singer. He has a pretty strong voice. To be honest, I wasn’t all that impressed with his YouTube performances. And he just seems to be singing loudly in this audition preview. But he is also rumored to be in the Top 40 (Top 20 guys).

The third contestant in this Idol commercial (the black girl) is not someone I recognize yet. I will add in her name when I find out who it is. She seems to have potential, as well. The clip was very short, but her “I Can’t Make You Love Me” sounded good.

When Is The Premiere Of American Idol 12 (2013)?

FOX has released the debut information for Season 12 of American Idol. This year will see the same basic singing contest but different judges. Randy Jackson is the only returning judge. Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are gone. New judges include Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban. Ryan Seacrest is returning as the host. You can tune in to see the journey for the winner who will eventually replace Season 11 winner, Phillip Phillips.

There is a special added premiere episode on Thursday, January 17, 2013. That audition episode also lasts two hours, from 8 to 10 p.m. Eastern.

Philip Phillips Has a Single Called “Can’t Go Wrong” On His Debut Album, “The World From The Side Of The Moon”

I happened across a Tweet from American Idol’s Nigel Lythgoe, who was talking about American Idol 12 auditions in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Nigel Tweeted that they saw a couple of great contestants in OKC. He also mentioned American Idol 11 winner Philip Phillips and tracks from the winner’s debut album, which is called “The World From The Side Of The Moon.”

Nigel mentioned a single called “Can’t Go Wrong.” It is not clear whether this will be the first single, second single, or whatever. But Nigel mentioned that he was loving the song when he listened to it.

Phillip’s album is set to be released on November 19, 2012. I will add more information on this “Can’t Go Wrong” single as soon as it is available.

American Idol 12 Audition Cities and Dates

The American Idol 12 audition cities and dates have not yet been announced. However, if you are interested in auditioning, expect the initial city auditions to take place in the summer of 2012. Then, Hollywood Week typically takes place around December, which would still be 2012 for the 12th season. Then, the final selection for the voting rounds will probably happen in January of 2013.

I will announce the cities and dates for the American Idol 2013 season when the show makes them available. That usually occurs around the end of the current season.

For those who have not auditioned, also be aware that the judges come on a later date than the initial city audition. If you get your golden ticket to see the judges, then you will return to that same city on a later date to appear in front of the judges.

American Idol 12 (2013) Audition Cities and Dates:

Thursday, June 7, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA

Saturday, June 23, 2012 – Newark, NJ

Thursday, July 12, 2012 – Chicago, IL

This is all that American Idol has released at this time. Check back for more dates and cities later.
