Smithfield And Wilson County, North Carolina Crime News Video: Garrett Nelson Brooks Shot And Killed By Police After Alleged Robbery And Carjacking

A man has been shot and killed by deputies after a chase that ended in Wilson County, North Carolina. This story started in Smithfield, where the suspect allegedly robbed a Kangaroo Express and then carjacked someone at American Pride Car Wash. The chase started up after the suspect stole that car.

Deputies say they fired at the suspect after he crashed into one of the police cars.

The Kangaroo Express is at 1137 North Bright Leaf Blvd. The car wash where the hijacking took place is near that Kangaroo Express.

The suspect was shot on N.C. Highway 42, in the vicinity of Interstate 95 (Wilson County).


This all started with the store robbery, which was a little after midnight, on Sunday, July 21, 2013.


Garrett Nelson Brooks was 28 years old. He lived in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
