The Chillicothe Gazette (Ohio) has reported on a deadly crash that occurred in Piketon, Ohio. One person has died in the accident, and three more teens in the same car were sent to hospitals with injuries. Passengers in another vehicle also sustained minor injuries. This accident occurred on Saturday, September 8, 2012.
The person killed was a passenger. Alisha Lett was 18 years old, and she comes from Waverly, Ohio.
3 other teenagers were in the same car as the one occupied by Lett. They include the following:
1. Kyle A. Roar, 18, Piketon, Ohio
2. Anthony Woolridge, 17, Piketon, Ohio
3. Jessica M. Smallwood, 15, Waverly, Ohio
The report is not totally clear on their conditions. But it sounds like Roar suffered fairly minor injuries, while Woolridge and Smallwood suffered serious injuries. Roar was the driver of the vehicle.
Another car that was involved in this incident was occupied by the following:
1. James F. Fitzgerald, 43, Leeper, Pennsylvania
2. Robert S. Grecco, Jr., 46, West Millford, New Jersey
These two were apparently injured only slightly. There was no mention of their going to a hospital for treatment.
Cause of The Crash
The police are saying that Roar caused this crash by failing to yield the right of way to Fitzgerald. Roar was turning left and struck by Fitzgerald’s vehicle. How close was Fitzgerald and how fast was he driving? We don’t know these things. But the person who fails to yield the right of way is responsible for assessing how much time it is going to take for that ongoing vehicle who has the right of way to reach the intersection.
It is not known at this time whether Roar will face criminal charges for allegedly causing this traffic accident.
