The rumors have been way off the mark on the Philip Phillips surgery status. Since before he won American Idol 11, it was confirmed that he needed surgery on one of his kidneys to deal with recurring kidney stones.
There was a rumor that he would undergo some kind of alternative treatment that now seems to have been false. The latest “news” is that Philip Phillips actually did have the kidney operation and is doing well.
Considering all the misinformation on this issue, it’s hard to say whether Phillips will be ready for the beginning of the Idols Live concert series. But when you think about the fact that he gutted it out the whole season, hopefully Philip will be there on opening night and ready to entertain the American Idol fans.
Note: Information on this issue has been completely unreliable, and Philip has not been helpful in keeping everyone informed. That’s his choice. But he has lost plenty of cool points in my book by showing a lack of appreciation to the people who just made him a star. Dude was like the 3rd to 5th best singer in Season 11 and still won. The least he can do is let his fans know what is going on.
