Singer: James Irwin
Song Choice: “Losing My Religion”
Irwin tried out in Season 4, but no judges picked him. So he is back for Season 5. James has been working on music on a full-time basis. Recently, he lost his twin daughters but then had a son.
The US version of The Voice 5 had its premiere episode on September 23, 2013. As usual, the first phase of the competition is made up of the Blind Auditions. Last year’s winner was Danielle Bradbery. The original four coaches are back for Season 5 – Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Cee Lo Green.
James Irwin auditioned on the October 1, 2013 Blind Audition episode. He performed “Losing My Religion.” I will link to the official YouTube video for this performance as soon as it has been uploaded by NBC.
He either improved or picked a better song than last year.
Which judges turned their chair?
all 4 judges
Adam thinks that’s the first time a returnee got 4 chairs to turn. He says there is still some work to do. Christina begs him to come to her team. Cee Lo enjoyed the rendition of that REM song. Blake said he is ready to win this now.
James Irwin is on Adam Levine’s team.
Blake is exaggerating here. I don’t think this guy is close to being a favorite to win. But if he keeps up the unique versions like this “Losing My Religion” audition, he could last a while.
