NBC Today Show Entertainment Video: Interview With 9-Year-Old Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts Of The Southern Wild), The Youngest Ever Best Actress Oscar Nominee (January 11, 2013)

The following Today show video is about Quvenzhane Wallis, a 9-year-old actress who just set the record as the youngest ever Academy Award (Oscar) nominee for Best Actress. Wallis got the nomination for her role in Beasts Of The Southern Wild. She plays the part of Hushpuppy. You can see a short interview with Quvenzhane in this Today show clip, which is from the January 11, 2013 episode.

Note: Quvenzhane Wallis was actually only 6 years old when she filmed Beasts, which makes the feat even more impressive.

Wallis is nominated along with Naomi Watts, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Chastain, and Emmanuelle Riva.

She said her mom woke her up when the news was announced. All she could see was her name scrolling across the screen.

The interview with Quvenzhane on the Today show was actually before she was nominated. She actually said that she was excited and touched that people were already talking about her possibly winning and Oscar (the “golden man,” as she calls it).
