This is the live blog, recap, and results for the third and final Las Vegas episode for the 7th season of America’s Got Talent.
Last night, about half of the Season 7 Top 48 was announced. There were some major surprises, with Andrew De Leon and all the other opera singers eliminated. You can click on the “america’s got talent” tag below to find my growing list of the Top 48 contestant for this season. These contestants will be split up into four groups of 12 and compete for America’s votes over 4 weeks. There will also be a special YouTube episode and a wildcard episode to create a Top 24.
Tonight, all of the remaining audition results will be announced by the end of this two-hour episode. It starts at 9 p.m. Eastern time. This episode consists of the standby acts. However, these standby acts will actually fill almost half of the slots.
Look for a major showdown between dancers Stepz and Turf on this episode. Hopefully, we will also see rapper Burton Crane again. And almost all of the female singers last night were just terrible. So it would be nice to find at least one decent female singer in the standby group.
Turf oversleeps to start the show.
Magic Group:
Hawley Magic does a levitation act.
Giani does a mentalist trick. His delivery kind of sucks. The trick was not that impressive because we couldn’t see his hands the whole time.
Jarrett and Raja got a music band to appear from behind a curtain.
Bands:
The All Ways do Christina Aguilera’s “Fighter.” It’s pretty good rock.
Wordspit The Illest is up now. The rapping is not mainstream, and the singer doesn’t have very good vocal control.
The HillBenders are a country band.
Dillon Havins is a pretty good teen singer, but he isn’t as hardcore as some of the other singers.
The Emily Anne Band is next. They have one of those whispery lead singers. Boring.
The Distinguished Men of Brass are auditioning now. They do the usual marching band thing.
Howard seems to be a bad judge of talent with these bands.
Kota Sports did a good act with scooters and such. There were some others that went by really fast.
Serengeti Steve did a cobra act. He kissed it.
Kid Category:
Lil Babywockee is decent, but she has no advanced moves.
Lil Starr was a little better than Babywockee.
Some other kid acts came. None of them has any chance.
The Williams Bruthuz were one of the better kid acts, but Howard said they didn’t step it up.
Acrobatic Acts:
Summer Lacy changes to the hula hoop aerial. This is a step down, not up.
Benn Mendoza Circus had too much acting and not enough acrobatics.
Donovan and Rebecca appear to be the favorites in this category. They did a crazy aerial spin.
Rappers:
Rob Hayes has a bad song. Svet is interesting because he can play the violin, as well. There were some other rappers, but it went by real fast.
Granny G does her thing. Then, she does something ridiculous with a Broadway-themed song. Ridiculous.
Burton Crane is up next. It was funny but not as catchy as last time.
None of these rappers can win. That’s just the way it is. Svet might do well if he creates a band, but not as a solo guy.
Dance Groups:
These groups went by really fast. The Scott Brothers appeared to be the standouts.
Inspire The Fire had another mediocre performance. Why does the show want to push this group?
Novelty Category:
John Pizzi’s act was not funny.
David Garibaldi and His CMYK’s did a good painting act again, but it was the exact same kind of thing as before.
Mike Price was an excellent juggler.
Big Barry had more bad singing. Only Howie seems to like him. It’s just not funny. So there’s nothing to look forward to with Big Barry.
Solo Dancers:
There are at least three here who could make it: Lindsey Norton, Stepz, and Turf. Elusive was also pretty good.
Stepz could have done better, but I still think he does a better overall act than Turf. The latter spends too much time on contortionism and not enough other moves.
Note: I missed a lot of this action. It was simply too fast. Below, I will write down as many people who made it to the Top 48.
David Garibaldi
Lil Starr
Wordspit
Distinguished Men of Brass
Lindsey Norton
Elusive
The All Ways
Hawley Magic
Jarrett and Raja
Inspire The Fire
Donovan and Rebecca
Big Barry
The Scott Brothers
Lisa Clark Dancers
Turf
I don’t know why they are hyping this Turf. He certainly can’t win. But they have pretty much guaranteed at least a Top 10 finish for him.
