Live Blog, Recap, and Results For the America’s Got Talent 7 Las Vegas Audition Round (Monday, June 25, 2012)

America’s Got Talent has three Las Vegas episodes for Season 7. This article is for the live blog, results, and recap for the first episode. It airs on Monday, June 25, 2012. The show starts at 9 p.m. Eastern time and lasts until 10 p.m. Note that the U.S. Olympic swimming trials are aired live before the show. Therefore, it is possible that the AGT broadcast for this first Vegas audition show will start late.

The Las Vegas round is a bit of a mess every year. The action is fast and furious, and the show tends to do a poor job of showing the names of all the acts. However, I have seen all of the episodes this year and will try to provide as much information as possible.

The judges will be picking the Top 48 in the Vegas rounds. They usually pick a certain number of acts on the first episode (this Monday broadcast) and then save the rest of the picks for the second and third episodes (tomorrow’s and Wednesday’s airings). The Top 48 acts are then split into four groups of 12 that perform live for America’s votes.

Live Blog:

All the contestants are in some huge lobby, and the judges show up.

There are two groups. One consists of the favorites, and they will perform first. The standbys will have to wait and see if there are any spots left. Some people are going home instantly and not even on standby.

Andrew De Leon is one of the favorites on the favorites list.

The Olate Dogs are not on the list? I hope there is a mistake there. The Bandbaz Brothers are out. Ivy Rose and Charlie C are out.

Whew! The Olate Dogs went to the Top 48 automatically. So did The Human Cannonball guy.

The danger acts are up to do auditions.

All Wheel Sports auditioned. Howard thinks there’s too much going on.

American BMX Stunt Team auditioned. There was one huge crash. Otherwise, they are quite good.

Cristin Sandu did the same old balancing act. Ben Blaque does his crossbow act. He uses a blindfold to do it. It was a step up, but Sharon and Howie weren’t that impressed.

No decisions were announced at this point.

The female singers are up next. Mary Joyner is already getting pimped hard. She auditions, and it’s pretty boring again. Howard said she blew it.

A bunch of other weak girls were shown. Luna auditioned. She seems a bit better but may have nerve problems. Ugh. She totally blows it and stops in the middle. The judges say she doesn’t even have a good attitude. They send her home immediately.

Australian Nikki Jensen auditions. She is marginally better than the others. All these girls are so weak. But Nikki may get through just because the female singer group seems horrible this year. The judges think she is unique, but Howie wonders if America will respond to her.

The dance groups are up next to audition.

Funk Beyond Control and All That auditioned. Loyalty Dance Team seems to be hyped by the show. They had interview time, and so did 787. The show seems to be setting up a rivalry between these two groups. Howard said Loyalty actually did worse. 787 was doing great, but one of them got hit and fell.

The novelty acts are coming up now.

Horse is auditioning first. This is the dope who lets people kick him in the nuts. He does the same stupid act. Unbelievably, Howie says he thinks he can win. Todd Oliver does his dog ventriloquist and comedy act. He is actually quite funny this time and has a decent shot at getting through.

All Beef Patty auditions with a drag-queen act. Artist Joe Castillo does his sand-picture act. Light Wire Theater and Aurora Light Painters are set up as rivalries. The judges say Aurora is not yet perfected. Light Wire Theater was good, but they didn’t really step it up and oddly used the same theme as their initial audition.

Classical singers are next – Simply Sergio, Luiz Meneghin, and Andrew De Leon. Sergio blows it.

Luiz lost his house to foreclosure. He made a questionable song choice that was too fast and was off the mark technically, as well. Andrew started great, but he blew it at the end, too. All three of these classical singers blew it this round.

The judges are discussing whether Andrew deserves another chance. He is the last audition of the night.

No picks were made tonight of the contestants who auditioned. That will presumably happen on Wednesday’s episode, which is the third of three Las Vegas episodes for Season 7 of America’s Got Talent.
